Hello everyone and welcome back to scary interesting and to another collection of horrible fates. In this video, we’re going to go over two stories that, as the stories progress, you’re going to get a creeping sense of dread about what’s going on. Whether or not you guess correctly, as you’ll see, the events are horrifying nonetheless. As always, viewer discretion is advised.

As per YouTube's new AI disclosure policy, you may see a box pop up that says "Altered or synthetic content". To give specifics on how it's used on this channel, we use it to generate some scenes where real and stock images are not available, as well as some of the AI tools in various programs to speed workflow. Otherwise, all scripts, voiceovers, video editing, etc. is done by humans.

Writing and research by Jay Adams

This video contains light dramatic reenactment but no actual footage or pictures of anyone being harmed or who has been harmed. The thumbnail is NOT a real image.

And a huge thank you to the Scary Interesting team of writers, editors, captioners, and everyone else who make this channel possible.

I don't know, I think finding a mummified head of someone's spouse hidden in their oven is a pretty obvious indication that the other spouse committed their murder. But that's just me I guess.

Poor Hilkka was murdered by her abusive husband and still hasn't gotten any justice.

"His wife was killed and stuffed inside the rebuilt chimney, and he is a violent drunkard who constantly attacked her, but we have no inconclusive proof he did it."
Even my breaks need to be given a break on that one 🤦‍♂️

That last one definitely sounds like a really bad trip in a really dangerous setting.

Hilkas story always makes me sad. Her life was filled with pain and sadness and then taken from her by that awful man. I sincerely hope shes in a better place where she will never go through the horrors she did on earth.

For anyone interested, the people in the second story were on very potent crystal meth, I don’t know why scary interesting didn’t say the name of the drug, he made it sound like some obscure drug people haven’t heard of before, maybe because of YouTube censorship. Anyway they were high when the cop pulled them over, but he didn’t pick up on it for whatever reason. They were still hundreds of miles from Omaha in a small town and they told him they were heading south, which is heading the wrong direction if they’re trying to get to Omaha. Then they asked how to get to pacific street, which is in Omaha, again hundreds of miles away, but the cop likely didn’t know that and so he assumed they were trying to get to the highway and he directed them there without realizing that they were tweaking. Their car didn’t crash of flip, it wasn’t stolen, it was in perfectly fine working condition, with a working heater and half a tank of gas. Not to mention there were winter coats for both of them in the car, but when they left they were wearing only sweatshirts. Had they stayed inside the car until help arrived they would’ve been fine. However meth makes people unable to sit still in one place and so they left the car, and wandered off into the blizzard. It also drastically increases body temperature leading to them feeling a lot warmer than they otherwise would, hence them leaving their coats in the car. And if you’re wondering about why they were seeing hundreds of dogs and cultists around them, well apparently they were seeing a bunch of cows in a field, and when they called out for help and they didn’t get a response they thought it was people that didn’t speak English, and the drugs did the rest.

I'm from Omaha, NE and the story of Janelle and Michael was really drilled into us as a drug horror story when I was in high school about the dangers of meth and it's effects. [The situation happened my last year of middle school, so it was still pretty fresh in everyone's minds. One of my classmates knew the couple from their older sibling, even.] I really appreciate you covering it, I never hear my own city talked about hardly ever when it comes to the unknown/true crime/and the like! You were super respectful about it, and I appreciate that so much.

The couple was on meth, and one of the things that is terrifying about meth delusions is that its often a suggestability delusion. It means that its not isolated to visual or auditory, but is often shared because one person claiming to see something will have an impact on what the other person sees as well. So when one person says they think someone is out there, the other will actually hallucinate that, and that confirmation will cause a really intense feedback loop. When you see someone on meth and seeing things, regardless of what you think of that person they should be regarded as very dangerous. Meth delusions are more rooted in emotion than something like mushrooms or even acid. And if you follow any emotion backwards you will always end up confronting the most basic and powerful emotion...fear.

The fact that over all the first guy got away with his wife's murder is mind boggling to me. As for the second story, sadly It seems like they were not only drugged but then dealing with hypothermia. All of these deaths are tragic.

As a Finnish person, I got so excited to see you cover one of our people's horrible fates. Even I wasn't aware of it. Thanks and would love to see more if possible!

Hilkka was found hidden inside an oven in the house she shared with her husband who happened to be abusive and tried to cover up the case, I wonder what could have happened...?

I love that I don't have to go through and read the comments first in order to make sure the video isn't going to be a total waste of time. Scary Interesting always delivers.

... I have no idea why I look forward to these as much as I do. Am I broken?

I knew of both of those stories, but as usual with Scary Interesting the research is the differentiator from other channels. As a result, I learned so much more than I knew! Another excellent episode!

Your voice is so perfect for narration! You always find the most interesting topics too. I’d heard the first story before but you definitely covered it way better.

I'm pretty well educated regarding drugs, both via both research and experience. Hallucinating like that on meth seemed a bit odd to me until I looked a bit further into this case and learned that what they'd taken was 90% pure and they'd taken it three days prior. That means they almost certainly hadn't slept during that timeframe. I also read that police think the "people" Michael and Janelle spoke of that wouldn't help them and/or didn't dish English were actually cattle. It'd be an amusing story if it weren't so tragic.
