Do you eat raw eggs?

I eat lots of raw egg yolks, but I don’t eat the whites raw, here’s why…

Eggs are an incredibly nutritious food for humans, I prefer corn and soy free eggs, and I eat the yolks raw…

It’s just easier for me, and I prefer the taste that way for topping a burger or tossing into a smoothie…

But I don’t eat raw egg whites, because they contain avidin, a compound that binds biotin…

Biotin in a B-vitamin critical for a healthy metabolism = burning fat, and healthy hair, skin, and nails…

It’s primarily found in animal foods like egg yolks and liver, though some plants foods contain biotin as well…

But a protein in the egg white called avidin binds to biotin strongly and prevents it absorption…

This means that if you eat raw egg white with egg yolk, or any other food that contains biotin, you won’t absorb the biotin… no bueno…

If you cook your eggs, the avidin should be denatured…but as I said previously, I prefer raw egg yolks so I skip the white and throw in the compost, etc…

I don’t worry about bacterial contamination on raw egg yolks because any problematic organisms are on the shell of the egg, and don’t touch the yolk… I’ve eaten THOUSANDS of raw eggs and never had a problem…

Eggs are a great addition to your #animalbased diet of organs (fresh or @heartandsoilsupplements), meat, fruit, honey, and raw dairy 👊

If you eat the whole egg, the amount of biotin is so much more than the avidin can attach too - it basically is irrelevant. Eggs (especially including the shell) are a whole food just on their own.

I just do sunny side up at low heat. Gives raw yokes essentially, and nicely cooked whites.

I've known this for years now. Cook the egg to the point where the whites are cooked just enough but the yolk is still nice and runny. Goes good in ground beef or on a steak.

You're right the shells don't touch the yolk. But your hand does that you just cracked the egg into...

In the Philippines we eat raw egg to treat anemia. You can add them to beer and drink as it is to prevent anemia.

We are so worry about health that we forget about living life.
It is possible to be healthy without being extremists about food.
Just stay away from processed carbs, sugars and oils and you should be fine.
And allow yourself to eat processed carbs and sugars an fried stuff sporadically because the best things to eat in modern society come from those.
Don't forget to live.

You can also sterilize the eggshells in the oven, then grind them to a powder and take as a calcium supplement.

You’re wrong again my friend, cooked eggs absorb 90% of the protein compared to only 50% in raw eggs. Cooked eggs make protein more bioavailable and kill the risk of salmonella if done properly.

This is not evolutionarily concurrent. Hunter gatherers would just eat the whole egg.

you only get a deficiency if you just eat raw egg whites without the yolk, eating the whole egg raw is fine
