Harlequin rasboras are my favorite schoolers for many reasons: Beautiful fiery copper color with a striking black patch looks great against a green planted tank, gentle disposition toward tankmates, non-nippy, not too small or too big, and hardy.

As you said, there are so many options. Gotta add Dwarf Pencilfish, Vietnamese WCMM, and green neons as some of my top favorites. The pencilfish actually school with my green neons on one tank and among my Vietnamese WCMM in another. I also have silver tips in another tank and they add tons of activity to that one.

Yup. I like corydoras the best. Such an interesting species to observe

I love the schooling behavior! My favorite is the Glow light Danios. Their schooling effects all the other species too. Like a flash mob of fish.

Instead of making videos on beginner fish could you make videos on harder to keep fish for people who have been in the hobby but would like more information on more sensitive fish?

Cool video! Personaly my favourite fish have always been schooling fish. Really like the beauty of a large shoal moving in sync. and the hierarchy changing beaviour, its just fascinating. For my favourite fish I would have to go with 2 Congo river species: The usual Congo Tetra - Phenacogrammus interruptus and also phenacogrammus aurantiacus

Good choices all. If I were to add to the list to make it a top 7, I'd add the pearl danio and the blackskirt tetra. LOVE cardinal tetras, though.

Gotta be honest, I was way more interested in the products you casually walked by. You got some interesting stuff like nets, food, tweezers, etc.

You inspired me, and I found rummy noses at Big Al's ...I use them like my "canary in the coal mine" if anything is wrong in the tank, they'll show me!

My top starter fish is the White Cloud Minnow. VERY easy to take care of. Cheap and entertaining fish.

Excellent choices! I used to have a 65 corner tank filled with Cardinal Tetras, Rummy Nose Tetras, Glowlight Tetras, Bleeding Heart Tetras, Silvertip Tetras, Black Neon Tetras, Glass Bloodfins, Marbled Hatchetfish, and Sterbas Cory catfish. I love Silvertips, but if I did it again I would put Silvertips in a seperate tank with Serpae Tetras, Emperor Tetras, Discus, and Altus Angelfish. The Silvertips weren't too aggressive towards the other slow moving species, but their frenetic movement and pace disrupted the tranquility of the others I mentioned. When the Bleeding heart Tetras are mature (2-3+ years) they make a nice larger centerpiece among the slimmer tetras.

Glowlight Tetras are a good underrated fish. I have 10 of them in my 30-gallon with 10 Neons and a Bristle-nosed Pleco.

When I'm researching different fish trying to decide can I have it? Aquarium Co Op is the no brainer go to gurus! When my friend's said the guy at Petco they had dead fish. I just shook my head

School of Rummynoses in a Discus tank look really awesome. The Discus don't bother the tetras at all, but the Rummynoses will stay in one big group all the time.

you could pretty much put all tetras into number 5. i think one of my favorite for schooling and color on tetras, it would be either pristella tetras or candy cane.

i have a few tanks, my 46 gallon bow front has like 20 pristellas in it, and it's kinda amazing to watch them swim from side to side together.
i have a 75 gallon with 40 candy canes, and their vibrant color really pops under blue light.
i also have 3 30 gallon tanks with neons, black neons some red minors.
