Interesting theater tidbit: David Alvarez (Bernardo) was one of the three boys who won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for BILLY ELLIOT. He's all grown up and it's great to see him here.

This may be just the thing I need to cure my ongoing obsession with Hamilton.

West Side Story won 10 oscars, not nominations, it won all 10 oscars. One of only 4 films ever to win 10 oscars.

"What else is there?" The music. It was revolutionary in the 1950s, and it's still vital. There's never been anything else like it. Film score composer David Newman is credited with arranging and adapting Leonard Bernstein's music, and Gustavo Dudamel conducted the orchestra, so the score appears to be in good hands.

Marc Daniel Patrick, thank you so much for this anticipation video! I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. I and just LOVED your little monologue on choreography!

I had the same feeling when I heard those opening notes, Marc! Can't wait to see the film. The original West Side Story film was my first exposure to a Broadway show as a child growing up in New York in the 60's. ❤

I think the new WEST SIDE STORY will likely have an uphill battle to climb in the awards race due to inevitable comparisons to the 1961 classic.

The Jets ballet in the garage, COOL, is just one of the most incredible pieces of film I've ever seen. Combination of beautiful, heart rending music and Robbins' dynamic choreography are just without equal. I must have watched it 50 times at least. Spielberg has a huge task on his hands to come anywhere near the iconic 1961 original.

I got so excited when I heard that 5 seconds of whistling when the trailer came up in my adds. I am beyond excited for this one

I loved George and Natalie's performances in the original, but seeing David and Rachel, actual Hispanic actors, brought tears to my eyes. And hearing Rita sing....ugh. I'm tearing up just thinking about it. December simply cannot come fast enough.

What I'm looking forward to is sitting in a theater and watching this film on the big screen. While some may say I shouldn't however my love for both musicals, film, and film musicals says something different for as a musical as big as this either live or filmed should always be watched in the theater.

... after the opening scene of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, I’ve thought that Spielberg needed/wanted to do a movie musical ...

I have a friend who was in the original cast of wss and the movie. The hardest part to film with Robbins? Cool. After the final take they were able to burn their kneepads!

I understand the excitement of a Speilberg WEST SIDE STORY. But I had hoped his movie musical debut would be RAGTIME. I still hope he takes it on.

Just seeing the man sweeping out side and seeing the vintage car's parked there just sold it for me it just looked so nice after that.

No mention of Robert Wise who glued the drama and choreography together.
