Thanks for the follow up Maciej. I watched your other video and this makes it very clear as to what I need to do now. Also, thank you for explaining the difference between the red and yellow wires. Nice job!

My ceiling just flooded. The float switch was not properly wired by an licensed HVAC technician. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I need to do more of that lol

I would be curious how to connect both a unit float switch like a SS2 along with an overflow tray switch SS3. I have both in my unit and have not opened it yet. My floats are at least 8 years old and I plan to replace both.

I had my pan overflow. Got everything working but the it’s connected between the YELLOW so I am going to connect between the RED. Is there a way to connect a small LED across the safety switch that would glow if the switch was open? Also I think my switch might be bad so I am going to go and take the float switch and turn it upside down, to move the slide part, and go outside to see if my unit is off. Ok I am back after 10 minutes. The unit shut off but my fan still ran so float switch seems to be working. So I will be looking for a 24 volt LED that I can drill a 1/2 hole and just push it into.

So do both wires from the switch connect to the red wire? Thanks

With new smart thermostats such as an Ecobee hooking it to the red wire is going to kill power to the thermostat which can sometimes cause confusion.

I just moved into a rental house. My switch is shutting off the AC fan but not the compressor which seems like not a good thing. Can you let me know if this is normal?

You got it, all videos around just show you put the switch in the pipe, but no the wire.. Thanks

So... my job thinks I'm getting paid enough to be an hvac tech, but I'm not an hvac tech, so I don't understand anything you just said. I'd you could either tell me where to connect the wire coming from the safety switch or convince my boss to pay an actual hvac tech to come out and do the job, either way would be helpful.

I believe if you “cut” the red wire with the switch, then a smart thermostat won’t get power. Do you agree?

I just saw another video saying not to connect it to the red wire because it will cause the unit to leak more water
