Mr Voss, your knowledge and the way you explain different perspectives in dealing with others is helping me to change my own perspectives.

I hear the point being made, but as men, we really have to get over this stigma around actually caring about people. We're so afraid of looking weak that we try to act like robots and end up thinking and behaving like sociopaths. That's the source of most of our problems.

Chris Voss, .Thank U! Initially heard your "tactical empathy" explanation from U on Andrew Huberman's "Difficult Conversations" where u wore a shirt "Flawed Human Being" and I understood what U meant . I appreciate any further explanation but U explained it eloquently 100%! Teaching this term a short is brilliant! Thank U! Bc u made it clear it's not sympathy, it was Ur story connecting the narrative 2 ALL niches explaining how U have had 2 use your "tacticle empathy" for a terrorist on the stand to Understand! And this has 2 show Ur demeanor understands them and U told a true story about how someone on the stand asked if "Ur a Muslim?" When u replied candidly, & said "No I'm not." People can sniff out if you display any demeanor of non-understanding & U made this clear by you giving an example...in "difficult conversations in a conversation w/ Andrew Huberman, " which not using tactical empathy would not give U any useful data! So I thank U 4 sharing THIS in a short to educate ALL bc that was such a profound message among MANY that resonated 💯! 🙏✌️💯 And U did make it very clear! I wrote that down ✍️ in a separate journal! And I was on the edge of my seat the entire time but 💯 understand how busy people are so Genius to point this out in a short! My apologies U have 2 repeat yourself but IF it helps MANY, 👏👏👏 thank U 4 ALL U do!

Bob Mnookin defines it as "demonstration of an accurate understanding of the counterpart's perspective, interest, and needs, in a non-judgmental way"

My subordinate was explaining his problems, and I wond up saying that I really couldn’t see his perspective, because that was, that moment for me, the kindest way to tell him that I think he’s batshit and he doesn’t know how to hay his ego and anger and micromanaging tendencies. He had the wherewithal to reply “that’s a problem”.

I was taken aback.

Now I see that there may have been another reaction that I could have had where I’m still not agreeing with him, but he doesn’t feel unseen or unheard.

Treat irrational employees like terrorists. Got it 😅

Cross. And then the same people who don't understand empathy try to say that people with AS-PD don't have any.

Empathy is actually feeling what the other person is feeling. Its tough to truly do that IRL.
