People in the U.S. have grown used to credit card protections. While banks are actively encouraging customers to use online banking instead of credit cards, a significant decrease in card usage in the U.S. is unlikely in the near future. While card usage is declining globally, U.S. consumers are very accustomed to the protections that credit cards offer, and as a result, it may be quite some time before card volumes actually decrease in the U.S.
