Story 1: So basically, Paul was jealous that OP had a male friend and tried to run his life. Add that he tried to hurt a receptionist while drunk and his rehab failed leading to another criminal charge.

It is always a red flag when your guy or girl partner gets mad at you for having close opposite sex or gender friends. Poor Mark because he was willing to be seen as a rapist to his closest friend. Paul deserves jail for a very long time!

giving them closure is the best thing. I remember a story where OP was the entitled stalker of their own story. post was asking how they can show their love despite a restraining order (or something), was denial they were stalking...but eventually saw the light. then became "should I let them know I finally got help, taking medication, etc" which people posted similar responses (yes...she may never forgive you for instilling fear...but giving her closure she will never have look over her shoulder again is best)

Story 1: so even though you were dating this guy he was actually going to r words you because you had a male best friend? I just want to know what exactly he thought was going to happen when he told you that he not only tried to do that to you but also threatened to kill Mark and assaulted him for trying to save you.

I don't know who he thinks he's fooling but alcohol is not the reason he did all that stuff he did, he deserves to rotten in prison.

Am I the only one who thinks it's a little sad that OP feels she has to "give Mark space"? I read Mark as actually being very open to resuming their friendship - he wanted her to meet his then-fiancee, and he invited her to his wedding. If OP feels it's safer for HER to keep a distance, that I understand. And I do think it would be hard to resume a friendship after such a break. But I think Mark really is willing to try.

But more importantly, Paul is in prison. That's what matters most.

Story 2: It's just a classic misunderstanding with an assumption. At least everything worked out in the end, hope nothing bad ever happens again

Second story, this was a really nice story. OP's bf seems pretty decent though probably should have talked about the car situation BEFORE telling his mother but he recognised his screw up, apologised and didn't fight, argue or push back at all. Honestly seems pretty healthy with a few improvements to be made here and there but eh, no relationship is perfect and neither are OP and the bf. Also OP didn't bring it up in front of the family either which definitely could have made it escalate. They both talked about it in private and understood each other's positions.

Last story: people need to realize before going into a raffle/competition/contest where the winning prize is a car:

if you could afford the insurance and whatever else, the winning a car will be great

But if you can’t: it’s a nightmare unless sold.

Cause you’re going to have to put insurance on it even if it is just sitting there unused
