A C2 and M2 Pre-Buyers Guide | Star Citizen 3.13

So in a nutshell the C2 Hercules StarLifter is for commercial use hauler and the M2 Hercules StarLifter is for military operations.

With that being said the reason these ships are very unique is vtol capabilities.

Having heavy duty downward thrusters allows the ship with its heavier payloads to maintain its stability, this was also boasted by the Manufactures themselves on the brochure, lore, and the thrusters are the pride and joy of crusader hence the incorporation in the starlifter design

Lets talk about price first.

The C2 Hercules StarLifter sits at 360

The M2 Hercules StarLifter is 480

Lets look at cargo.

The C2 Hercules StarLifter has been said to have 624 scu

And the M2 Hercules StarLifter has traded cargo for heavier armor making is slower than the C2 Hercules StarLifter , and one additional turret, therefore its cargo space was said to be 468 scu

The C2 Hercules StarLifter being the Civilian version, would be similar to the Catt, the ship seems to be solo able and be used as a cargo runner because of the fact that it will overtake the cat shortly with cargo capacity, if you are willing to take the risk.

But the minimum crew is two being the pilot and the remote gunner, the brochure even states the C2 Hercules StarLifter has 2 crew seats. Also the C2 only has two turrets and both being only aft facing, along with the pilot controlled weapons. Personally it would make more sense to have 3 crew seats, 2 gunners and the pilot

Both sides have 1 large power plant, and two large shield gens,

The difference lies in the coolers, the C2 Hercules StarLifter has 2 medium sized, and the M2 Hercules StarLifter has 1 Large

Now let’s think about that real quick…

The C2 Hercules StarLifter is a civilian ship, warning a little bit of speculation here, but don’t be surprised if you see civilian components, vs the M2 being a military platform. I won't speak on the grades, they will probably be all over the place, which takes us to my next observation.

Which is upgrading components,

in the long run the C2 Hercules StarLifter since having mid-size coolers it may be a bit easier to upgrade to the best

mid-size coolers vs getting the best possible Large cooler for the M2 Hercules StarLifter , since everything is large components you are going to be spending a good chunk of money for upgrading if the components are not up to your liking
I always prefer redundancy which is why I leaned toward the C2 Hercules StarLifter a bit more. I do find it odd that a military ship is not having more redundancy, but of course I don’t make the rules.

Not only this but we also need to factor in the cost to maintain the ships. More than likely these ships will be performing their roles around planetary bodies, and will be adversely affected by forms of gravity, so fuel costs will be a playing factor once you have used it in the verse.

There are other things that come with being a larger ship like in general usually larger ships mean larger components and all of that play a role in EM/IR signature too, but of course there are exceptions, yes constellation, and retaliator I am talking to you.

Another important thing you need to remember with at least the C2 Hercules StarLifter and M2 Hercules StarLifter is these are logistical platforms while they do have means to defend themselves

In my opinion you 100% need backup because people will want to take the cargo, possibly being a nova tank if they strike gold.

The M2 Hercules StarLifter crew is three along with 3 crew seats, but also the M2 Hercules StarLifter has two aft facing turrets, a forward facing turret below the nose of the ship, and the pilot guns. I guess it will be either CIG adds another seat, or you get to choose which turret you want to interface with.

Both the C2 Hercules StarLifter and M2 Hercules StarLifter s turrets incorporate 2 size 3 weapons on the turrets, and two size 4s for the pilot guns.
Speaking of nova’s the C2 Hercules StarLifter and M2 Hercules StarLifter are capable of carrying 2 novas, and also have the capability to carry and ballista as well.

Lets talk about how I see players using them within present day star citizen In 2021.

Temporary operations while planet side.

The C2 Hercules StarLifter and M2 Hercules StarLifter are large ships that bridges the gap for ships like the 890 was filling with the ability to haul larger vehicles,
Now you can carry those vehicles and some ships for less. I have nothing against the 890 stump at all and the ship still has its place.

I do know there are leaks on the ship but I never like going off leaks because of consistancy of the channel.
You already know I will be here for Crusader Ships, which did you get or not get?

2:45 YES Bless you sir. So many are balls deep into theory crafting for SC to the point where they call you stupid for wanting anything bigger than a fighter. "Yeah but there's no way you'll be able to use this ship it's got 5 crew. You won't even get off the ground without them. Just quit the game you're not having fun"

I can't wait to fly these ships. I melted a load of fighters that I never use in order to get the C2. It has been my favourite looking ship since I started playing. If the M2 had been closer in price I probably would have gone for that.

So glad you're back & hope you're going to be more active. I have CCUs to both C2 & M2, but still not decided on which one I'm going to end up with. I think I can live with the decreased cargo capacity of the M2, so for me, I'll be comparing their speeds, turret layouts, considering extra armor and whether or not I believe the M2 is worth the extra cost.

As a bonus, I got an extra M2 CCU, and plan to use it's eventual price increase to jump up to the Orion. Keep up the good work. I like this style and format.

Thanks for the video Seerthe6th, I appreciate it! You earned yourself a subscriber and I look forward to many more Star Citizen videos from you!🙂

Personally I was planning on getting the C2 as the M2 felt rather overpriced. The M2 was +$120 over the C2 and all it really got for that bag of extra cash was heavier armor and an extra turret; but at the cost of 25% cargo capacity. That felt a little ridiculous; especially when you look at the Starfarer and Starfarer Gemini. The Starfarer Gemini was only $40 more than the regular Starfarer yet gained larger weapons on all manned turrets, heavier armor, stronger thrusters, and a missile launcher with 9 S3 missiles. It was also supposed to have stronger shields but it seems that CIG has ninja-nerfed that as both variants have the same 1xL shield.

So yeah, you received a ton of extras for that +$40 on the Gemini while your +$120 for an M2 gets you hardly anything. CIG also stated that the heavier armor of the M2 was comparable to the Gemini. As such I was hoping that at such an increase in price that they would also give the M2 larger weapons, stronger thrusters, an extra missile launcher or added point defense turrets perhaps. Even then you'd still not reach the same value so maybe also toss in a 'free' Cyclone-AA and we would be good. Unfortunately all M2 owners get for their +$120 is some heavier armor, an extra turret, and 25% reduction in cargo capacity. Talk about paying more for less... 😝

However, I am still going to get the M2. Why? Because CIG increased the price of the Banu Merchantman again during last year's Anniversary expo event. I still had access to a BMM at the original concept price of $250 at some point it had already seen an increase in value even though it was still in development. When it was sitting at $350 I had bought a $10 CCU to the C2 but now that its price increased to $450 I bought a $30 CCU to the M2 instead. In addition to that CIG also sold several discounted "Warbond CCUs" a few times now; starting with these new offerings at the expo and once again during the recent "Assault on Stanton" and "Lunar New Year" events. Thanks to those recent "Warbond CCUs" I was able to create a CCU-chain to an M2 where it would only cost me a total of $195. At that price I am perfectly happy with my 'overpriced' M2 and finally have a reason to clean up several of my old stored CCUs. 😃

Now that you mentioned it, I cannot get out of my head working out of this thing as a pit crew for land and air racers. That would be awesome!

Even though I am a solo player- I got the M2, in hopes I can get some of my friends to cross over from console to PC or if I can find a bad ass Org and make friends out of it then the M2 would be great. I would have went for the C2, but having the few extras defenses and the military feel on the M2 seemed more satisfying.
