I feel that AoS was pretty much test bed for 40k 8th edition. GW made mistakes with AoS but they learned from those and didn't make same mistakes anymore. That includes being open about what was coming and revealing rules little by little instead of being secretive and alienating lot of WHFB players. Of course what helps with 40k 8th edition is that they didn't destroy entire universe that we know and love and replace it with new one that has no soul like one that it would had replaced.

Perhaps the 8th edition is an allegory for the Imperium. 7th edition is a result of 10 millennia of the Ecclesiarchy and the Admisistratum making everything needlessly complicated, and the 8th Edition is a result of Rouboute Gulliman fixing it up.

I haven't played for a good 7 years or so, went and played a demo game of 8th edition on the 3rd and loved it. Preordered the starter set that day.

One note for new players I've noticed is that pretty much everything I have seen has increased in points cost, with vehicles and characters getting a big boost. My Necron decurion detachment list jumped from 1500 to 1950 points. This means it is cheaper to assemble a full army to the conventional points limits for people starting a new army :)

It's good to see Games Workshop actually listening to the fans and pushing the story onwards. Tom Kirby stepping down was one of the best things to happen to the company in a long, long time.

Professional in the face of... lighting! ;) I enjoyed the mood lighting! can't argue with anything you'd said; they took AoS, moved the hero phase to after movement and added a handful of rules! great stuff!

Really appreciate your overall tone and cadence. Very down to earth, honest, genuine, and dare I say, trustworthy as an advocate of the hobby. Thank you for your service! 🤠👍

I have been watching your videos for a couple of months now. After playing Total War :Warhammer throughout 2016. Although a huge fan of CA's historical titles, this game really struck a chord of interest with me, and from a pc gamers perspective really translated well into a total war game. After a bit of digging for more information I became enthralled with 30+ years of the fantasy lore of Warhammer. I came upon the miniatures which I thought were amazing. I wanted to maybe pick up a few Lizardmen/Seraphon to create a showpiece for my game room. Naturally through some of this research I stumbled upon some of your videos. After seeing your passion not only for the craft and painting of the models, but your genuine love of tabletop wargaming, and how many people are actually playing Warhammer/other miniature tabletop games, really made me consider picking this hobby up.
- A Month later and I now have an insane amount of paint, and $400 into the AOS Seraphon units gluing, priming, and painting so I can actually start playing with a local group.
-Thank you for your videos.

One correction is that, the rules in the book are not JUST 12 pages, playing with just free core rules is essentially an intro game of 40K, or showing someone new, this is how 40K works. You will still need an actual full core rule book and not just the free rules and an index if you want to play actual in depth 40K. Not that Games Workshop lied about the rules being free or anything, it is just a bit different than "That's all you need to play the whole game". Which is originally what people thought was going to be the case with the free core rules.

The lighting actually looks really good at the end of the video.

I cannot believe how perfectly timed the light coming back on was. Thanks for the video, Uncle Atom. I'm looking forward to 8th edition. It'll encourage me to paint up some miniatures and give it a go.

simple answer: Do you like Age of Sigmar? Do you like 40k? Do you want to play with 40k models using simple Age of Sigmar rules? Then 8th is for you.

I've collected my first army, AdMech and I'm building a second, Talons of the Emperor.

I've been waiting for NewHammer just because when I tried to get into 7th, I found the rules intimidatingly convoluted and complicated.

But 8th sounds fantastic!

ps. Talons of the Emperor is the Custodes + Sisters of Silence faction.

They're small at the moment, but have terrifyingly powerful rules and are a bombshell on the tabletop.

LOL "We wanna make this as clear as possible; specifically this part." The first EVER said of Games Workshop.
