Today I’m showing you how you can get started with your first Warhammer 40k Army for under $100, or about £60.

If you’re anything like I was when starting out the amount of choice you have is overwhelming, this is the video I wish someone had made for me and just set me on a straight path of “Buy this, ignore everything else and you’re going to love it.”

I’m not entirely sure why I watched this because I’m on my 4th army, but this video would be fantastic for a beginner and I’ll definitely point new players in this direction.

I have been watching Warhammer 40K for beginners vids non-stop because I really want to get into it but I felt intimidated and overwhelmed because I had no idea where to start. Your video helped so much, not just where to start but also where to continue from there. Thank you for this!!!

As much as I might lament the ubiquitous stranglehold of the Space Marines, it's important to acknowledge that the models themselves are designed to be beginner friendly to paint. Not as easy as Necrons (they really are easy mode), but Marines have big volumes which let you get a hang on your brush skills. And remember kids, thin your paints and apply TWO THIN COATS!

I’m not a beginner. I collected huge amounts when I was a kid with a Space Marine army and an unfinished Tyrannid army. As an adult, getting back into the lore has excited me. However, the practicals of making this hobby work in a cost of living crisis are eye-watering. What I’ve found is that scoping factions on YouTube and consuming lore first is very handy. I’ve picked the faction and got a codex (The Drukhari). Once I’ve read the codex then I’ll pick a small squad box for £25 and buy brushes, paint and glue. If it works, it works, if it doesn’t it doesn’t but will make it a cost effective task. Rolling back the years is so important sometimes. Thanks for video.

I have spent a week of watching videos on Warhammer 40K and how to get started. I just found this video and it was just what I was looking for. Thank you!

I shared the same info with new players wanting to play but they always go down the rabbit hole, and end up intimidated and quit before they even started. I will be sharing this video with many others. Thank you for sharing.

I started with Dark Angels...but it was a stagnated start as I found that I was constantly then looking at other armies...fortunately I've managed to avoid temptation. I've got around a thousand points or so, and next step is to add some big guns into my army. I would recommend reading some of the lore as this gives a new element to your army.

My buddy from work introduced me to Warhammer a couple weeks back and I’m hooked. This video has helped me out a lot because I have been very confused as to which army to start with. Instinctively, from binging lore and talking with him, I narrowed it down to either necrons, orks or space marines, specifically space wolves. Thank you so much for making this video! I initially thought about going with a starter kit and building off of that and after watching this, that’s exactly what I’m going to do.

Thank you so much for sharing this. As somebody who wants to get into the hobby but doesn’t know where to start, this is a big help. Particularly because I want to play blood angel Marines or Necrons, so this box seems like a great starter option. Thank you

Heya mate, thank you for this video. I last played 40k during 4th Edition... but was interested in picking it up again. Definitely will check out this Recruit Edition, which looks perfect. Great advice that I intend to put to use!

I really enjoyed the Elite edition starter set as a beginner too- that Capt. and those Necron Destroyers are cool af. Very fun to paint.

Enjoyed the video, I played a really long time ago and still have some models leftover but looking to get back in. One thing I wanted to mention is the Codex for $55. Would love to see another video with higher budget and includes everything; storage for minis(+transport), rule books, dice, etc...

I’m trying to get hobbies into my life due to stress, I started things like swimming etc, and looking to get into warhammer I was always fascinated by it but thought it was too complicated, this video really helped show that anyone can start with basic items! Thank you

I just started warhammer, I just painted my second mini and I would like to give a small tip, for the Space Marines at least, you don't (always) have to choose Ultramarines for beign the easier chapter or any chapter because they are easy, more so if you want to create an army, instead, you have to be really REALLY sure of the chapter you want, I wanted to create a custom pattern with my first mini, testing stuff, in the end, I think i'll make Salamanders changing some colors on the armor, but salamanders in essence, just be sure of what you want before purchasing the paints because if you go to a store and tell them exactly the chapter you want, they can give you the best colors for it, I didn't and now I have to use what paints I have, I can still work with them, but I should have sat and thought about it for longer
