Ironically, the Custodes’ loyalty is to the Emperor, not the Imperium. The Imperium could implode the next cycle and they wouldn’t care unless it directly put the Emperor in danger.

Custodes A Premium Player In A Free To Play Game.

I love how First Heretic highlighted this- Both the positives and negatives. Sure, each Custodes is a masterful warrior that can take on any number of opponents.. But even deployed in squads, they aren't brothers. All are isolated from each other, doing their duty with cold precision. They don't get the bonds of an Astartes.

Which just made it all the more painful in the end. Don't want to spoil, but go read The First Heretic.

One of the fun things about 40k is how every faction is basically unstoppable, has been unstoppable or has the potential to be unstoppable. Like you read the Necron codex and go why the hell even bother fighting em but then one of these marines could single handedly tear a Doomsday Ark in half and survive the mini nuke that would go off lol
