In this video, I'm testing the simple question, does bleach, vinegar, and your average pesticide kill bed bugs... the answer may surprise you!

ALL the EXACT products I use for 🪳pest control, 🎥 content creation, and 🕺personal.

Thanks for watching Dan the Bug Man. Check out my channel for all kinds of cool pest control videos.

Here's a little more about this video... Turns out yes, putting bed bugs in containers with bleach, vinegar, and PT insecticide will kill them. But this should not be a surprise. This experiment just shows, that yes you can kill bed bugs with very strong acidic cleaning products. HOWEVER, I would never recommend preforming a treatment of a bed bug infestation with these products. There is a huge difference in formulated insecticides that are meant for a pest control treatment and household cleaning products. They will never be able to eliminate a bed bug, or any other bug, infestation...

Thank you for watching, let me know if you have any questions about bed bugs!

After moving into a new apartment, found out that bed bugs were living in the new carpet that was installed before moving in. I know you don't recommend using chemicals, but I use 91% alcohol for exterminating. Ran 91% through my steam vacuum and went through a whole box I bought at the local Walgreens with a week of treatment. No signs of bed bugs for 5 years now. I had prior experience with them before, so it was easy for me to see indicators or signs of activity. But that was the first time seeing them come out of carpet like that. After routinely checking for signs any where else in the unit and complex, I went to work right away on the carpet, knowing they were only in that specific area.

Bleach WILL kill bed bugs. I've used all purpose cleaner with bleach. Works pretty good.

Your conclusions are actually so accurate and reflective of how to approach actual research studies.
The dose matters, where the chemical is applied matters. So many people misinterpret research when it comes to things that cause cancer or "toxins".

Did they die from a lack of oxygen in that airtight container??
That’s a very good possibility.

It is worth to note that vinegar doesn't kill bed bug eggs. Rubbing alcohol does tho. It also kills adult bugs too.

I used cinnamon with hot pepper and boiled it together, then when it cooled, I put soda carbonate on it and sprinkled the places and holes every week, good at killing it and escaping

Use rubbing alcohol. It’s better and safer on most surfaces. You can’t spray bleach on everything especially fabrics.

You are missing alcohol. It is dangerous only if you don’t take extreme precautions. I did it in no time.
I spray the rugs, inch by inch and with a big rolling paint on a stick, scrub all surfaces, crevices and more.
With homemade CO2 traps and other remedies, I won (for now) the difference is that, now, I have a method that works.
Vacuuming is a key factor.

I tried Eucalyptus and Cedar. I'm still working on that experiment. Freezing does work. I am glad to find out that vinegar works because I clean my house using vinegar. Yeah, I can now spay my bed and other furniture. Thanks for your info. How can I get the blood off my white bedding?

Where is his control?
If you put nothing in the container and sealed it would the insect die?

Do they need air? I read the bed bugs track us by our body heat, & the Co2 we exhale. If you enclose them, do they die from no oxygen? do like your video, & thank you !

You can use vinegar to keep bed bugs away and kill them with it. But you have to go multiple kinds of treatments. Vinegar is 100% safe for pets. Vacuuming, carpet cleaning using vinegar, steam cleaner, mopping floors with vinegar.

So many creatures are becoming resistant to chemicals where many do not use such right for one.
