Must agree on this statement. Toyotas are known to never break down.
Passat not so much 😢

You are right Scotty! I bought a VW Passat new in 2001, and had nothing but contin problems and expensive repairs for the 10 years I owned it. I will NEVER buy another VW, and would never recommend one to anybody 🙄

Run the passat wiper motor directly from the battery. No computer needed just cut the wires from the module.

Scotty, you’re absolutely right! My Passat had an electronic engine control issue and the VW technicians at the dealer worked on it twice and they could not determine the root of the problem. I eventually had to get rid of it just to have a reliable car to drive. If VW techs don’t know how to fix their cars they are either bad technicians, not trained properly, or Passats are poorly designed cars with way to much reliance on the on board computer.

I own a Camry, yes ! I love it because never breakdown, just maintenance; however those “Passat” are fun to drive and quicker than a “Camry” the problem with the VW is the same thing that happens with all European vehicles.

There aren't many Volkswagens I would consider owning... and most of those are air cooled. :3

I'm sorry to say this, but even though it's built to a higher standard, I wouldn't consider a modern Camry either.

A $1400 electrical gremlin could cripple that car just as easily, even though it lasts longer. With an old car, systems are easier and much cheaper to fix. :3

I got a 2013 passat. I've put over 200k on it and still running strong.

They fetch good money here in the UK, despite cheating on the emissions.

With VWs, you need to stay on top of maintenance and even then it's not a foolproof guarantee against problems. I've had great luck with VWs over the past 15+ years. Everyone's experience will be different.

I agree with you Scotty!
Also Toyota cars have a higher resale value even with more than 200 K miles.
I have a VW car very reliable!
It’s an ‘83 Rabbit!

Turn down the volume and put on Beethoven, Scotty is a "Conductor", he needs that wand to wave at the orchestra! Hopefully he doesn't conduct electricity from those thunderheads behind him.

Anyone buying a new VW over a new Toyota needs some jumper cables hooked up to his head to jumpstart his brain.

Love the Design of those Passats & CC's but often heard those VW's made in america are Known for Breaking down. Windshield Wipers Running off of a "Computer" 🤔
