Let's all badger This Old Tony into making the clutch release. I bet he could drop a piece of metal on the floor and have it magically appear.

My parents had their business for 48 years, my father had the restaurant and my mother a hair salon, they always told me that advertising can be a double edge sword, you pay and the return don’t match the investment or make a good job, help the customers and his word forward is just straight profit. I do understand that times are not the same, but the way to treat a customer to get their business has not change much! I do like your approach, thanks for the video.

An honest business that doesn't try to cheat me and actually treats me like a friend is a company I ALWAYS stick with. I have a few places I will only go to because of the way they treat people.

Not often you still find guys with good work ethics and honesty these days. Good on you.

Running an honest shop is really rare to see these days . Much respect for that. I wish more businesses would operate like this... Thank you for sharing 👏👏👏

It’s a Tough choice but this is my favorite fabricator channel on YouTube.

That's exactly how my boat mechanic got me. I'll never take anything elsewhere and I've recommend him to lots of people.

I have my own retail business in a small town in the UK. And you are 100% correct in doing this. Nearly every day, I spend time giving advice to people FOC. I hope it ends in a sale, but if it doesn't, hopefully I have gained some respect for the time I've invested. And respect is everything.

You will make that 2 hours of labor back 1000 fold just from word of mouth of how honest and straight forward you conduct business! Also some of those guys like TOT (this old tony) and Abom (adam) mite be interested in doing an episode making that clutch release lever. I bet just from making this video someone will comment and have or know where to get the parts needed for that repair than you can do the weld repair after all. Thanks for sharing!

Public accountant and hobbyist here. i LOVE the breakdown and case study here. Prospect time is a big part of organic growth and as long as its tracked, benchmarked, and budgeted then its a perfectly rational and valuable component of any service operation. You're investing in your businesses goodwill and in most cases that's the largest component of your enterprise value.

I have done a lot of repair work over the years on all kinds of equipment, Things with two wheels, four wheels more. Not once have I ever charged anybody to evaluate a repair that did not end up happening. How do you charge somebody for something you didn't do? There are plenty of people out there that will disagree, I have met some and they all have a similar trait....a-holes. I never advertised, new customers were word of mouth referrals, old customers came back over and over. Its refreshing to see someone that applies good old school business logic and treats people the way they want to be treated. Good job.

Honestly all the businesses I frequently return to and my friends do also, are ones like yours. Honest, straight up, high quality work most importantly; genuine people. It counts for a lot

The way to go mate, I run my business for 25 years now, never had to advertise, good labour and honesty will deliver you mouth to mouth advertisement.
And that's the best you can have...

I wish I could find more tradespeople with your honesty. I always run into companies wanted to take what they can from you and not caring about a long term relationship. I would pay more for trust and honesty. Good for you!

You’ll receive more work for the couple hours of effort you put in than you could ever get in advertising. Shops that will actually take the time to try to help the customer and not just look at them as a wallet are hard to find. Good on you for being a stand up guy.

Totally on board with how you treat people and word of mouth advertising. You get a much better customer base. Takes longer but worth it.
