People learning today have it easy, so many resources. I grew up with Joe Fava books, and Joe Fava himself, sending you home early if you hadn't "adequately" practiced your last lesson. He could tell within a minute or two, how much work you put into your lesson. Leaving early was like a walk of shame at his studio. And you were expected to put in at least 40 hours of practice between bi-weekly lessons. He was tough, but the results that came from listening to him when I was young, learning discipline, paid off for me in many parts of my life.

But what really amazes me is what those guys in the 60s and 70s did to learn how to play. We got it easy

I use transcribe+ to learn by ear solos or tricky parts when tabs are not available! Highly recommended!

YT backing tracks in A D or whatever. Love those things. Got a small mixer with E drums and guitar hooked up and use headphones and we jam to backing tracks. Like drumless and guitarless ones. Oh its great fun. Its like studio quality stuff with endless time!!

RJ, thanks for all you're doing. I want to recommend the iStrobosoft tuner by Peterson Tuners. Hands down the most accurate tuner you'll ever use, and one of the quickest to get right on pitch. One of the best things it can do that no other tuner I've come across can do is help you precisely set the intonation on your guitar. Rock solid. Rock on.
