How to fix Honda lawnmower self propel

This only works as long as the belt isn't worn completely out

I think you solved my problem. The small nut wouldn't budge so I used something to let it sit overnight. I finally got it to budge & put the mower on its right side & used my foot to push the paddles down. Before that, I checked the belt & it was very loose. So I tighten the adjuster, checked the paddles with my toe & the belt was tight as a guitar string! Now I have to change the oil & get a new air filter. You just saved this senior citizen a lot of money! Thank you so very much! All the other videos wanted me to disassemble everything underneath! May comment more later but You're the BEST! UPDATE: Well, yesterday after changing the oil & putting in the air filter I got to try my Honda mower & it was running like a racehorse! Thanks, man you saved this old lady some money she doesn't have to waste!

This was such a blessing. We recently moved to a new home and I cranked our Honda
for the first mow. Well, it wouldn't move. So silly me thinks "Well, it must be a worn out
belt because the mower is about three years old." Then I went and bought a belt for $20
thinking I could watch a You Tube video and replace the belt no problem. So after realizing
that my degree in education doesn't qualify me to replace a belt that requires upteen
screws to remove, I called my local Honda dealer who said that the replacement would
be somewhere between $50 and $100. The mower was bought at Home Depot for a little
over $300, so I wasn't gioing to pay $100 for a belt replacement. Fast forward to your
video. I followed your video and then put my son on mowing the back yard. It still wouldn't
self-propel. We put the mower up and this morning I thought I would crank it and see
what was going on. The mower took off like it was new out of the box like three years
ago. I had this big smile on my face. I prayed on the way home from work this week
that God would direct me to just the right video to fix the issue with the lawnmower
and lo and behold I saw yours and even better, I read the comments about how this
fixed mower after mower with just the turn of a screw. You saved me a trip with a
lawnmower in my trunk and anywhere between $50-100 plus the belt. Give me your

Outstanding! My Honda suddenly stopped self-propelling after working beautifully for a couple of years. I was skeptical of this fix as it just seemed too easy. This worked last time but today I'll try it again. I checked the belt & it looks fine. I've been told it's really hard to replace the belt! I hope it works for me today, it's getting hot out there! Thanks for this easy fix hope it works again.
