Thanks for the assist! Had this mower that had been sitting for quite some time and wouldn't start - changed the gas, changed the oil, changed the spark plug, no luck. Was dreading messing with the carburetor until I watched your video and was able to easily get it off to clean. Sure enough, it was completely gunked up. Got it back on and it fired right up no issues and seems to run even better than before!

Thanks so much.

Thanks so much for this video. It was a great help. I was given a Honda mower that had sat unused for over 6 years and it wouldn't start. It was absolutely filthy, covered in dirt and dust and it sat with gas in it all of that time. I gave it a wash and was surprised to see just how great it looked afterward - practically new. I had another mower (an old Murray with a Briggs engine on it) but it has been extremely unreliable, due to the cheap construction of the carburetor and related parts - lots of plastic and rubber, and I had to mess with it almost every week. It finally pushed me past my limit and I decided to see if I could get that Honda running. The acid you used wasn't going to be available for over a week and I needed to get this thing going, so decided to give it a try with just some spray brake cleaner that I had. I took it all apart, sprayed everything down, cleaned and re-gapped the spark plug, flushed out the gas tank and cleaned the little fuel filter inside the gas line, put it back together and then changed the oil (old oil was pitch black - it may have never been changed). No parts were changed simply because I didn't have time to wait for them to arrive. Anyway, I pulled the starter cord and it fired up on the first pull! It is running great! I've ordered an air filter that should be here today and am now looking forward to years of trouble-free mowing with this thing. Thanks again for the great video!!

Thank you! Don't know if it was the acid the carb cleaner or both but worked lkke a charm. It was much more satisfying fixing it than buying a new one. Feel like a man fix your own carb! Thanks again

This video is perfect! I tried all the tricks to clean the carb but nothing was working. The mower turned over with carb cleaner, but wouldn't stay on no matter what I tried. Using the acid to clean the carb worked like a charm. One pull and BOOM it was running. Can't thank you enough!

He says “make sure the needle valve doesn’t come out”. Me: what? Me later after hearing a “ting” hit the ground: oh shit, I bet that was the needle valve.

This was incredibly informative, thank you! I've had my mower for many years and this is the first year it's started to give me problems-- amazing considering the abuse i put it through! I changed the spark plug and brake cable because both seemed in bad condition and that got it starting again but now it won't stay running. I'm obsessed with never having anyone else work on my stuff if i can help it and this is my first time repairing a mower but your instructions have given me confidence!

Gotta say, your tip for using that acid for cleaning the carb was a game changer. Thank you so much for this. Watched several other videos and nobody mentioned the acid, which is what finally ended up working for me. Started on the first pull after the acid clean. Cheers

This video worked perfectly for me! I’m up and running. Before it would only run about 2 seconds. Thanks 🙏🏻

This works!
I tried cleaning my carb normally and the engine was still running rough.
After I followed these steps, and replaced some worn gaskets, the mower started rough for a moment but then worked out the gunk and ran smooth.

Thanks. This video let me see it was a lot less intimidating than I thought. I just used what cleaners I had on hand. I scoured the inside of the jets with a needle instead of acid.

thank you so much for your great detail.

i believe all machines should be built to be serviceable to maintain working condition.
that's what i think "built to last" statement really means.
that's what reduces unnecessary production.
and that's what saves the planet.

you are not just teaching us how to service mechanical aspect of a machine.

you are taking a part of a great mission; "save the planet"

Good video.. Thanks man. Never cleaned carb on my own mower. Just dropped it off to mechanic for years. Well no more mechanic and i had a fuel leak in the line...i replaced the 3/16 tubing but i lost a filter somehow. My mower would start but die within 2-3 seconds. I will be cleaning the carberator today. 🤙

Great video… you fixed with one hand most the time, nice job!
My lawn mower is not starting.
If I put gasoline inside the engine, it starts, but stops few second later.
I guess gas is not going to the engine.
Would you recommend me to do this carburetor cleaning?
