If you guys care, the point of the white knight was a significant factor in breaking the pavers, but the real reason it went through all five was give of the sand underneath.

The sand deforms underneath, allowing the concrete to bend, and break. When you had nine pavers, the top slabs had really firm support, and could resist the impact really well.

Had you taken both darts, and dropped both on a stack of nine, they would have both probably only gone through four.

Aren't physics awesome?!?

FUN TIP: Place foam in-between each paver, and the dart will go even deeper through them! Even the blunt one might make it to 5, or 6!

Concrete is very strong in compression but weak as piss in tension. To break concrete easily, you must transfer force to the *underneath* of where you hit it. The reason the white dart shattered five but the old dart could not break the fifth is NOT because the white dart is sharper, it is because the other four paving slabs absorbed the tensive force the underneath of the fifth slab was taking - when you dropped the white dart, there was nothing under the fifth slab to absorb the force so the concrete had to take it itself which caused it to fail.
If you just had five slabs, or maybe even six slabs, the old dart would have shattered them.

It's hard to believe the dart would go through 5 cement slabs, but the video is concrete evidence.
