One Strat I like to use for storing spears is just throwing them at my raft, they stick into the raft so you can just stick a buttload to it and don't need to use up any storage lockers. Just grab from the pincushion when you need em

If your raft gets flipped. Grab one end of the raft and dive under it and come up on the other side. This is a quick way to right the raft.

A great tip I figured out is that if you're on an island with no shade, craft a spear, then throw it straight down into the ground. Then grab your inflatable raft (haven't tried it with a buildable one yet), and flip it over so that the bottom is facing the sky. Then grab the side and prop it up onto the spear in the ground, crouch under, and boom. Instant shade

I always build my "save hut" facing the island I came from. That way, I know exactly which direction I'm facing/headed in.

You can still use "spoiled" food in making tonics or even "spoiled potatoes" to make fuel!!

Hey just found out that if you ping PLANKS and drag the whole tree over to the plank maker it will make the planks without chopping up the tree and saving your equipment durability a little longer, doesn't help in making sticks though. Also I added the bed roll to my raft and it seems to stay pretty well.

Another important tip you can drink two coconuts. Wait for 10 minutes in game. You just pull out your watch and wait for 10 minutes to pass by then you can drink two more coconuts without getting sick

I’ve gotten to a point where I made plank shelves and labeled it: Emergency and put all my health things in there so I can take it with me everywhere. The Antidote, Breath Boost, Aloe Salve, Shark Repellent, etc.

If you do get lost, quickly find some place to make a shelter save, then exit the game and check the cartographer, it will hightlight which island you are on and you''ll be able to figure out your way back to the starting island which is always the centre island on the map.

Build two sails on your raft. One forward and one backwards. That way you don't get stuck as easily on rocks.
Build your anchor within reach of your rudder so you can stop without letting go.
Build a canopy over your rudder so you can stay cool while sailing.
Build a second raft so you can have a large, main one for collecting resources, and another more nimble one for when you just need to explore to find specific items like Jerry cans or vehicle parts.

As a newer player my best tip is go to the starting island strip down all fibrous leaves then grab all rocks make 2 axes and a refined knife chop down all the wood you can carry with other supplies found and hop onto starter raft go to closest island and rinse and repeat till you land at a good island you like

Harvest the spears from dead sharks before skinning so you gain back most if not all spears used before the body disappears once skinned.

When I am collecting fibrous leaves to make lashings, I go to the Yucca plants, whack them until the leaves fall and then hold the crafting key. When the lashing is crafted, I only have to pick up 2 more leaves which is very handy when the yucca plant is in the bushes.
I like to leave outposts too. When I do I try to leave a water still that is full of water with leaves in the bottom, a smoker with smoked meat hanging and a full fire pit and a shelter where I can save the game and sleep. If I can collect some small crabs and fish, Ill leave them behind too since they do not rot if you do not clean them.Sometimes I’ll leave a shark on the beach too so I can make big steaks to take with me at the tend of my visit to the outpost.

Rain will revive crops.
Sharks won't go in the shallow water, but you can still kill them in shallow water.
Custom islands won't spawn sharks.

I've downloaded it on PS4 & played this for the first time a week back. It's so frustrating at times (only survived two days twice) but I'm sticking with it because I know it'll come to be a favourite (like Everybody's Gone To The Rapture) once I get the hang of it.

I'd like to stress how great Tip #2 is. Use poisoning to your advantage!! Ok, so I never got poisoned "on purpose" ..but have considered it LOL. Once poisoned, I can do so many things without keeping my head on a constant swivel... no worry about a lion fish swimming past while I mine clay or loot large ships... no need to watch my step on the beach. Plus I can harvest many lion fish for crafting. You can be poisoned for quite a while and be ok.. so get your clay & loot in that time!! ..and many other tasks without having to worry.... then just cure yourself

Here a Tip ⚠️
To cook alot of meat fast without a fire spit is just make a camp fire and drop all your meat on the fire, it will cook it all.

I know this is a little thing but instead of climbing a tree to grab the coconuts throw a crude spear at them it will save you from maybe breaking your leg by accidentally jumping down from too high
