I have found it useful that when you visit a new island that you put the point of the tent towards the direction your home island is so that way if you see the tent you know to go the direction it is pointing. This will help if you are trying to get the achievement for beating the game with no compass

The way I remember my island is I build a huge ass pylon with as many lights as I can fit on it, hasn’t failed me yet.

Well this was certainly a very helpful tip, cause the first time I went to another island, only was there a few seconds due to pissy hog lol.

The label maker is useful to assign numbers to islands, which you will also number on the map. You can also label the compass direction to home

🤣I’m an older pc player. We always used pen and paper. This was well before internet and you really just had to figure it out. I played with my grandma and her sister and they taught me all this. First thing I did on stranded deep was draw a map on graph paper based on the title screen map. North being actually in the corner of the map. It made my play through fairly easy. I did utilize the compass though. I just laid a coin on my hand drawn map for the island I was currently visiting.

On every new island the first thing I do is put a shelter down facing towards my home island, and as an additional marker, I throw a spear in the sand pointed towards my home island, so no matter what island I'm on, I know exactly which way home is.

What I usually do is build a saving tent pointed at my home island. This could be tricky when you change islands.

Does anyone remember when it used to have like oil rig looking platforms in place of some of the islands. You would have to climb up the long ladders to get inside them

One I’ve found on console that if you start out at the first on the map, if you spot the abandoned ship, that is your northern way. From there on you can use that ship as a reference to guide yourself back to your island when venturing out for long periods of time and without using your compass as it’s one less item to have to take up space in inventory.

ok super new at the game and my first thought was to use the new map as a guid but can someone tell me what is with that north indicator? is north the direction the arrow is pointing, which if it is why? or is north on the updated map directly right?
