This Calculus 3 video explains how to find tangent planes at a point on the graph of a function of two variables in three-dimensional space. To find a tangent plane to a surface, we think of it as finding a tangent plane to a level surface (level curves in 3-D space) by using the gradient of our function as a function of three variables, in order to find the normal vector for the plane. A few examples are worked, with an outline of the entire process at the end of the video.
