I'm curious. Would you please explain why you use sawdust? I just make mine with only fish scraps and brown sugar.

I've tried this method/recipe because it's the easiest I found in the net, and I've kept it close for about 2 weeks and I opened them and found some maggots all around. The thing was I did not sealed it tight because I thought it might need some air for proper decomposition. So, does the cover need to be tightly sealed? Pls reply ASAP (so sorry for the rush) I'm just a beginner and I'm doing this for a comparative study at school. Thanks, anyway

For $5.87 at Walmart I will use the ready made stuff from Alaska fish emulsion. Thank you.
