I'm not sure why I'm watching this video. I've never used Davinci Resolve (and, by extension, have never encountered this error), but here I am.

YouTube pro tip: you can use, and . to go a frame back and forth respectively.

All I did was went to the media tab, clicked "replace selected clip" on the problematic clip, selected the same clip that was already linked, and it was fixed.
Thanks for the video

On Linux, the H264 decoder is straight up not supported unless you get the paid version of Resolve, so learning about DNxHD is so valuable, I can actually try it out.

This actually seems to work, thanks a bunch! I thought I would have to re-record my video but this is certainly easier.

Thank you so much! I was running into this exact problem. I ran the source file through Handbrake, then replaced the file in DaVinci Resolve, and it worked perfectly.

Couldn't get my head around this! Looks like it was useful for a lot but still couldn't work it out! Turns out by switching the hard drive I was rendering to it made all the difference. Originally was using files from and exporting to a SanDisk 2TB SSD, switched it out for a Lacie 2TB and worked first time. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the video. This happened to me now in 2022, DR Studio v17.4.5. You'd think that in Resolve's Media tab, right click the problem file and hit "Generate Optimised Media" would be the official remedy for this...but that doesnt work! If it's so important for Resolve to be this fussy about media errors then this option should do this process properly. Let's hope they implement this feature comprehensively and add ability to restore the bad frames, with a few options like truncate, ideally. As it stands "Generate Optimised Media" is useless, my understanding is that it is generated automatically during ordinary cache management and you can even delete specific files in the cache if you want to. ..reporting back: it turned out it was just the last frame or two that was erroneous so moving the outpoint before that, is my workaround. Thanks again for addressing it here.

For some reason, the UI settings don't just magically appear on my screen when I need them.
Weird.

To me for videos that are simply clip slicing, OBS + Kdenlive is more than enough.

I had this problem with BRAW footage but it ended up being a USB cable between my Macbook and the SSD that the footage was on.

I have had great success with just unchecking that stop render button. I think its a great place to start. Just make sure u watch your render before u send to it to your client to make sure everything is good to go like u should do anyway!

One could maybe analyze the screen capture video file with ffmpeg to see what exactly is wrong with it. Maybe it says something like "broken keyframe" in verbose mode.
