Shifting at 2000 rpm would actually see a decrease in mileage. Your car operates at a peak efficiency at a certain rpm and throttle position. Shifting at 2000 rpm would bog the engine down, and the driver would have to press harder on the gas to accelerate, making efficiency worse.

if you're driving in not so wholesome parts of town, forget rolling down the windows. Keep windows up, doors locked... and simply switch on the blower! People seem to forget that you can use the blower only, without either AC or heat on. Save some MPG while also maintaining your security

the problem with the first one is that when i see a red light ahead i dont brake and let the car coast in the gear i was in but the people behind me expect me to go fast till 100m of away of the light so always tailgate or change lanes and look at me in their so called "SUV's" as they take their kid to soccer practice

Heh my dad told me the same thing on the 2000 rpm shifting technique and then stay below the 2k while moving, but a traffic jam happened as a result

1.) Get a Diesel Engined Car

I ride a bicycle to and from work each day. Not only am I doing my part to help the environment but I save a little on filling up my car every week. Plus going with the flow of traffic I can get up to 35mph and I never get caught up in traffic jams. I blow through 4 way stop signs and when I get up to a red light at an intersection I keep going and hope that I manage to wedge through without getting hit like a game of frogger. Oh and did I mention public transportation is another great way to save on fuel? Riding in back of an ambulance as we speak.
