Ankle Sprain

Показать описание
In the ankle we see 6 main ligaments that not only connect the ankle bones to each other, but also to the foot.
Anterior tibiofibular ligament - anchor tibia to fibula; resists torsion and inversion stresses
Posterior tibiofibular ligament- anchor tibia to fibula; resists torsion and inversion stresses
Anterior talofibular ligament - connects talus to fibula; resists plantarflexion
Posterior talofibular ligament - connects talus to fibula; resists dorsiflexion

Took me to 18-20 months to heal a severely rolled ankle when I was in middle school. I was just below the severity threshold for a full tear requiring surgery the doctor said, and I can still flex it way further than the other ankle/ foot today.

Broke my 4th metatarsal last year which took a year to heal. Then my friend knocked me over and I've torn the ligament on the same foot. Waiting to get it fixed but been painful to move around for 8 months. Thanks for showing this as It explains where the problem is.

For those wondering how long your ankle might take to heal, well I sprained mine almost three weeks ago and I'm only now starting to walk. Still limping though.
So if you need to go to work next day or do any kind of sports in less than a week after after spraining, I'm sorry to break it to you but it ain't gonna happen.
Also my advice, elastic bandages work just as good as most braces you can buy in a pharmacy (no need to waste your money).
⚠️ Also, do not hop on the healthy foot, unless you want to ruin your achilles tendon ⚠️

I'm almost have a sprained ankle. Right now i feel the less pain on my left ankle. Never run again after your sprained angle is healed.

I broke the bone off my leg that has that large ligament attached to it, along with crushing my heel bone, and breaking my leg, very painful, to repair it anyway, many surgeries, I basically have no feeling in my foot now, however it hurts constantly, years later! Great video!! 👍

The rolling was not depicted clearly.
The anatomy of the roll is really the Tibia/Fibula is forcefully going to the direction of down to the outer (lateral) side WHILE the ankle joint itself (actually at the sub-talar joint) is going towards the exact OPPOSITE direction (inversion).
The force of those (2) opposing directions is what could either strain, sprain, or actually partially or completely tear those skinny ligaments on the outer side of the ankle joint.

I’ve had so many severe sprains on both of my ankles during my time playing basketball and while in the military. I now wear ankle braces every day. I believe I’ve caused permanent damage because they are so weak and they hurt so bad all the time. The slightest step on a small pebble or imbalance in the pavement I’m walking on can cause a complete collapse and buckle in my ankles depending on which one Im stepping with at the moment. My ligaments gots to be loose as an over sized belt or completely torn beyond natural repair

sprained mine years ago. still feel it to this day.

I'm pretty sure they also take forever to heal because ligaments have a very low blood supply compared to muscle and tendons

Hello what about middle ligaments? I rolled my foot upwards and it hurts the middle inside part of ligaments (best way I can describe it) what could it be and how can I get it 100% functional again? Because if I bend my foot upwards it starts to hurt

i broke my fibula in a motorcycle accident. I also tore or strained a lotttt of ligaments in my foot, and strangely enough, what broke my leg bone was due to the ligaments that were attached to my foot
