I learned so much, thank you! It's really nice seeing a bunch of actual beginner's info, like changing settings or the color of quest markers that no one mentions because "Duh everyone knows that why bother mentioning it"

Like I've been playing FF14 for about a week now, and I clicked on a "Beginner's guide" for gathering, and it was all about how to maximize yield and optimize rotation on collecting high level materials and I'm just sitting there like... bruh... where do I find a rock to mine?

I don't know how I managed to fully level my crafting classes without knowing about the raw materials list! This will be super helpful for the future, thank you!

I’ve played this game for 3 years and never knew about the setting to stop sending new gear to the armory chest. Sir, you have just saved me from all future inventory headaches. Thank you so much

The one caveat to the aggro meter as a judge of relative DPS performance is that it ceases to be even a relative reference if anyone dies. As death resets your enmity to zero, unless the fight is particularly long, anyone who dies will end up at the bottom of the list, even if they have the highest DPS post-death, due to having to 'catch back up' on the enmity table.

That said, yes, if the tank dies and the boss turns to face you as a DPS, you can proceed to eat dirt with honor knowing you were probably pulling the biggest numbers before the boss turned you into a pancake :P

@22:05 You SHOULD do this with dungeons--or to be precise, SPECIFIC dungeons. The Thousand Maws of Toto-Rak (Level 24), Brayflox Longston (Level 32), and The Stone Vigil (Level 41) are great to unsync for a reason--Gear Sets. If you're leveling alt jobs at low levels, Unsync these with high level jobs solo and collect all the gear using multiple runs. It lets you get every gear drop (and thus not having to roll against others), and you can do it fast! These gear sets are great to use as you level up, keeping you fully geared from start to finish. Use the Brand New Set from 15 to 24, Toto-Rak from 24 to 32, Brayflox from 32 to 41, and the Vigil gear until you get most of your class gear at 45. Once you hit 50, Tomestone gear goes on. You don't have to buy or craft low level gear--just unsync, collect, and use for all low level jobs!

/Petsize affects how YOU see pets, not how others see yours. Even if you arent a summoner, I suggest /petsize all small to make summons more bearable.

Sanctuary is also shown by the moon icon next to your xp bar. Moon = sanctuary, no moon = no sanctuary

Entering my 2nd month of playing FFXIV and already after seeing that first tip about the spirit bond you have blown my mind.

Limited Leveling Roulette only works with a 4-man Premade Party. It won't work if you queue by yourself or with only 1 or 2 other players.

A sidenote about the EXP bar and rested EXP... You actually gain rested EXP the entire time you are in a sanctuary. Idling in a sanctuary will get you rested EXP, as well as logging out. So if you need to be AFK for a bit, idle in a sanctuary. You get a little rested EXP for it.

I use the same keybinds in all MMOs (technically just WoW Classic and FF14): QERFCZ, with Shift, Ctrl, and Alt to access those 6 keys in four modes and either 1234 or four side buttons on my mouse. I'm fairly new (lvl 62 WHM) but it works flawlessly across all the classes I've trained on alts too (incl. CNJ, THM, ARC, ACN, SCH, PUG, and DoH/DoL classes).

E and R are for the most used actions (Cure/Stone2 and Cure2/Regen/Aero2). Q is for second most used (Medica2), F is for special actions (Cure3/Esuna/Repose), C and Z are for rarely used or emergency actions (Rescue and Raise/Benediction).

My current setup for WHM, in order of QERFCZ:
Basic class actions (Medica, Cure, Cure2, Cure3, Rescue, Raise) are the base mode, situational class actions (Medica2, [No E], Regen, Esuna, [No C], Benediction) are under the Shift mode, combat specific actions ([No Q], Stone2, Aero2, Holy, Repose) are under the Ctrl mode, and Alt mode has yet to be used yet but I'm planning on putting my lilies there once I unlock them (I'm still stuck in ARR lmao). My cooldown skills go on my side buttons on my mouse (Lucid Dreaming, Swiftcast, Presence of Mind, Surecast) and I use Ctrl mode + the same buttons for the next four (currently empty), with the last four slots in my 3rd hotbar being unbound click slots for Timers, Sprint, Return, and Teleport respectively.

This setup lets me use any ability I need to with minimum reach and it only takes a little bit of memorization to use without looking. I do occasionally trigger CAPSLOCK but it's never been a problem lol. It's basically nothing to M5 into Z for an insta-Raise or to take a break from spamming Holy on Ctrl + F to reup Medica2 with Shift + Q or Regen with Shift + R. On ARC and THM, I put my DOTs on Ctrl, CC on Shift, and single-target damage on the base mode.

For bonus points I angle my keyboard inwards a few degrees to minimize strain on my wrist (your wrist shouldn't be bent if you'll be using a keyboard for extended periods of time) and use a mousepad with ergonomic support. I can play for 10+ hours (with breaks, of course) with next to no strain on my hands. My mom taught me about this type of thing because she worked as an insurance clerk full time when I was a kid and used an ergonomic keyboard and I think I've offset arthritis/carpal tunnel by years by adopting her tactics for extended computer use.

Love the video man! Thank you for this.
A tip at 18:40 or so. Instead of having to copy and then paste the items, the game has an option in the right click menu just above copy, it says "search for item by gathering method" or "search for item by crafting method" it will send you directly to it. Way faster. Anyways thanks again!

Edit: you can even do this in the crafting menu with the various other materials needed that can also be crafted.

One more tip for this to save time is to right click the items needed for your craft and hit "search for item" the game will pull a screen up showing if you have the item in everything, including retainers. Very convenient if you are a hoarder like me lol.

for the GC provision missions, the star bonus and the HQ bonuses both give double XP and they can stack to give you 4x the baseline listed XP gain. meaning a 100k XP gain will give you 400k XP if its both starred and you turn in a HQ item. gathering items since they can no longer give HQ items have long since given double XP baseline due to the change and you double that from all starred gathering turn in.

2:50 I remember when I had to learn how to turn off spell effects; I was running Aglaia on the day of its release, had 3 dancers in my party along with multiple summoners in the other alliance groups, and I kept dying because I couldn't see the mechanics due to all the blinding spell/skill effects from the dancers and summoners.

Okay, using the extract materia action instead of right clicking each piece was a new one for me. Good tip! :)

Not really for beginners, but I find the part about alt job leveling a bit misleading. Having one job at higher level than the others will give you a significant XP boost, yes. But the thing is, once you unlock tribal quests in Shadowbringers and especially Endwalker (so when you have one job at level 90 basically), it is just more efficient to level multiple jobs at different stages in parallel. By the time you manage to get 10 levels with 70- jobs (roulettes, hunts, etc...), you can easily get 2 to 3 with another 70+ jobs by just doing your daily tribal quests. That takes something like 10 minutes a day. If you are aiming for all classes at level 90, it can get it of weeks of grind.
