Minor correction - following selection and badging, 22 SAS then undergo specialized training (e.g recon, explosives. CQC etc)

I remember a story about the SBS unit on a submarine going to the Falklands conflict. the cramped quarters was difficult for everyone but especially the SBS as they had a lot of kit and did lots of training getting ready for any task, this meant practicing leaving the submerged submarine with kit... during the voyage a sub crew member couldn't do enough for them, bringing a brew and food down and being available if they needed anything. One day the guy asked if he could ask a question...
He was told " yeah sure"
He said " how do you do it"
Puzzled by the question " what do you mean, how do we do what"?
Well he said " how do you hold your breath for an hour outside the boat?"
Aaahhh we don't hold our breath we go outside and hook up to air lines made for the guy was so pissed off that there was no superhuman powers he never went down again..

The sas actually go onto continuation training too, they go to their selectted troop/ squandron and specialise in air, mountain, boat or mobility. A, b, c, and g (not in that order)

SAS then have continuation training on book deals, publication rights. TV appearances, movie work ……

I'm filled with goosebumps and pride watching these guys and hearing how badass they are. When your country has super soldiers like SAS & SBS and across the pond SEALS & DELTA you feel proud that your military has sf guys it's a bad day for our enemies

British special forces are simply a different breed

That statistic is even more impressive when you think about how tiny the marines are in comparison to the whole armed forces

Both carry on with continuation training....

Is there a link to the full interview ?

All people here saying he’s wrong when you’re all cleared misunderstood. Men who have applied for SAS are badged and get their beret before they do continuation training. SBS have a longer selection process and have to do further training before getting badged.

I was in selection for SCS but left because I don't like working in sales 😅

sbs is the equivalent of seals and sas is the equivalent of delta but in reality the preparation of British forces is much more comprehensive and multipurpose while still keeping very high levels of detailed specialization which makes them much more situation-adaptive, autonomous and usable in scenarios with lack of information and unpredictable development.. or at least i’ve heard so

Regardless, I think that I had a hope in hell (I’m too old now anyway) I’d stick with the SAS. Personal preference but being in the parachute regiment was always my dream. Which was luckily dashed by injuries I got in a car accident after agreeing to sign up for 6 years.

Curious how many Royal Marines opt to go SAS ? Is there a sizeable number or do most stay with their Naval roots and go SBS?

Let's not forget the patrol skills for the Regiment...

Then the SAS have to do continuation training learning their troop skills etc and are also on probationary period for 2 years.
