if you read the book by the creator of Delta force, he actually went thru SAS training himself and passed...Hence why Delta selection and training is based on SAS..

What do they mean "one of" the toughest selection courses on earth???

SAS is by far the most physical and mentally demanding selection course of them all..

The British are phenomenal soldiers. Always have been . not trying to slight our guys because we are every bit as good but let's all give respect where it's due.

I would not like to be a terrorist or be in a group of terrorists that meet these lads.

The selection and training process of Delta is very similar to the SAS, as it was based on it. They both do a few weeks of endurance selection, then those that pass move on to further training, for the SAS it's what was mentioned in the video, and for Delta, it's similar, called the OTC. applicants can still be failed during both the OTC and SAS continuation training, so they can both be thought of as selection.

this is why the UK has the best armed forces in the world. not the biggest but most certainty the best trained.

I heard a story from a  russian soldier  once in his 40s now, that the most feared special force solider was the british SAS he said the british are so highly skilled  purely because where they can be deployed within 24 hours notice and actually take the fight fight and win.  American and british work well together  in any action situation.

Some of the comments made here are so funny.  SAS are the best, Seals are the best etc.  Each special forces unit has a massive range of skills, they are not simply Navy or Paratroopers.  The selection tests for any special forces unit is extremely tough and to argue that this is tougher or that is tougher is crap, it's all about mental state and physical ability at the time of the test.  I'm just glad that we have these guys on our side, I wouldn't want to oppose any of them.

US military leader General David Petraeus said British soldiers are the world's best and the SAS are "absolutely spectacular".

The US Central Command chief boss said: "They would use extraordinary skill. And your conventional forces demonstrate the same capacity. I have always been impressed by the courage, capacity for independent action, skill and exceptional will of your soldiers. The tank must of been impressed usually the yanks only like to blow there own trumpet

This is why the SAS is the worlds most elite fighting force! We may not have many soldiers but what we do have is well trained ones!

Americans will always have a powerful army because their country is rich in natural resources being that it is so huge, with such a varied climate. Which means they have a bigger army and expensive modern warfare; however the standard to which they trained is evidently not the best in the world.

If you look at the ratio of accomplishments of Great Britain and America in accordance with size, Britain appears to have the "better" army.

Your'e right.

When it comes to this level, no one is "better".
