This switch has happened many times in the past. The way we know that is through core samples of the floor of the ocean. The magnetic particles get aligned on the ocean floor depending on where magnetic north is. They can see in the samples they flip regularly. No one seems to know what will happen when that happens, but it will happen. And yes, it appears it has been beginning for some time. We have seen a weakening of the field and other signs. Only one thing for sure, this is going to get interesting.

As a point of interest, the geographic north pole is presently the south magnetic pole. That is why the north pole of a magnet points to it. Also, although there is mention of a possible short term (quick, 100yr) reversal, the last three reversals took an average 7000yrs each. The interval between reversals seems completely random, from what we know. It can happen after 1000yrs or 400, 000yrs.

I've always wondered about this since I was about 7 years old. I had read about magnetic reversal in a textbook I got as a present from my father and I was enthralled that you finally answered my questions about this.

Another potential effect of magnetic reversal could be confused behavior in animals with a magnetic sense. For example, birds with magnetite in their brains might have difficulty knowing which way to migrate when the seasons change, and could die.

Hell yeah I'm worried about this. Since this has aired, the earths magnetic field has weakened at an even faster rate. Actively trying to find more research as to when out magnetic field disappears completely, but at this rate, looks like it will be just a matter of a few years, like 4 to 6 or less. So, between that and the sun going into hibernation over the coming decade and our poles actively flipping right now, prepping is beginning to look less and less like a paranoid type of behavior and more and more like a sane one all of the time.

i think it's funny this is from 2014 and she says there are no manifestations yet...This summer we had hundreds of environmental events throughout the world happening, dangerous ones and unexplicable ones. It seems to me it might be moving faster than previously though and we should start getting smart as a society before we have the same destiny of the civilizations before us.
