Just what I needed...A "How to draw like RossDraws" by RossDraws himself.

The argument against references has always made me roll my eyes. Just look at Norman Rockwell, one of the greatest painters of our time. So many of his big, famous paintings were tracings using a projector of photographs that he had taken, and then he'd go in and add stylistic embellishments. It's a completely legitimate method of constructing pieces.

Other artists: apologize for a controversy and then keep it under the rugs
Rossdraws: retells it to reinforce a message and takes full accountability

This style of video is much more interesting to me... more chill, less screaming and some pro tips. Nice vibes.

Saying using references is cheating is just saying; You can't draw humans cuz you didn't create them...

I love your art so much, I can’t. It gives me joy at enjoying, despair at the fact that my art doesn’t look like this, and inspiration to improve and get closer to this pro level

I see a reference as helping hand or sometimes a recipe like a cook for my art or watching a how to draw using references 😋

There are so many things I learned. I wish this came out sooner. Still better to learn now than never. Thx !

What you said in this video can really ease the painting process for me especially when it's about blocking the shapes from big to medium to small and not get lost in details
And reduce the tension I get just because I want my art to look like the reference photo and so instead I should paint it the way I like in my own art style
Thanks a lot Ross 😘🌹

I started "studying" from LoL Splasharts! I saw your Video a huge while ago with some artists from LoL! And I was so fascinated how great they are.
So I challenged myself to draw some Splasharts, and it helped me a lot to understand what/why they doing it.
Thank you for your great tips!

I'll admit I am not the biggest fan of Ross, especially after some things he has chosen to do, but I do love how he owns up to past mistakes and how skilled he truly can be which is clearly shown in the video. The biggest thing I would add as a novice myself is for all other novice/beginners or even more advanced artists, is to remember to keep practicing. You won't be able to just go from reference to finished piece in your first go. Keep doing it over and over and eventually, you will be able to take that reference to a finished piece.

The Thumbnail looks awfully similar to an Ethan Becker style thumbnail
