#CoupleCarComparison
This is a Motormouth couple car comparison of the most fuel efficient cars sold from subcompact, to compact and even mid-size cars.We cover the cars with the best gas mileage and also look at the hybrids with the best fuel economy and even one pig-in with amazing gas milage. The smallest cars are subcompact cars and they are the most fuel efficient gas models because the cars are small, have small engines and are even less expensive to buy. The Mini base model does well with fuel economy, so does the Kia Rio, Nissan Versa but the best is the smallest of the bunch the fuel sipping Mitsubishi Mirage. The compact car segment is very competitive and the Honda Civic is very good on gas, so it sit rival the Toyota Corolla but it ties the new VW Jetta, it's the Hyundai Elantra with the best fuel economy in the compact car segment. The compact hybrid car segment is mall with only three entries, they include the Toyota Corolla hybrid, Toyota Prius Hybrid and the best for fuel economy is the Hyundai Elantra hybrid. The mid-size car segment was once the biggest car segment in the United States and the three with the best gas mileage are popular including the Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Camry and the most fuel efficient mid-size car is the Honda Accord. The mid-size hybrid cars with the best fuel economy are the Hyundai Sonata hybrid, Honda Accord hybrid and the most fuel efficient mid-size hybrid sedan is the Toyota Camry Hybrid. These are just some of the cars mentions so have a look at the video for more.

I have a 2022 Toyota Corolla Hatchback base model. It’s super fun to drive, and I’ve gotten 4.7L /100kms which is pretty much hybrid numbers. Super impressed!

Glad to see the Jetta in there. We've got a 2022 SEL model that is averaging over 50MPG the last two long trips we took. 2 weeks ago we averaged 54.7MPG on a 90-mile dride, and 4 days ago we took at 52 mile ride and got 53.3. Both trips were about 20% local roads and 80% highway. Truly amazing little car.

My brother and I have an Accord and Camry to compare. He gets 33 mpgs on his 1.5 turbo Accord and I have 38 mpg...LIFETIME MPG on my Camry. My best trip MPG was 2.5L NON HYBRID....get up to speed and back off on the throttle. Watch the tach go down and MPG skyrocket.
Another great common sense Video. TY

I appreciate you guys making videos about affordable cars. I find your videos very relatable and informative. I have the 2022 Civic Touring and am getting a combined fuel economy of 6.9-7.0, I also never use eco mode just normal.

Awesome car review !!! I am glad that sedans are coming back. Need more car makers to come out with hybrids in their line of vehicles. Thanks, again.

I recently rented a Mitsu Mirage for a vaca around Ottawa and Kingston. The trip meter showed 4.5 l/100km on the highway. I drove it for a week, 662 kms, highway and city and averaged an actual 5.1 l/100km calculated at the fill up. Unreal!

I drive a 2016 Prius v and thank god I do! I tend to get 50+mpg in the city and I usually hit around 700+km and most of that is city driving. When gas hit $2 a litre here in Ontario I hit a $70 fill but it was way down there. But it's not my dream car but man do I love it sometimes!

Great video guys. I am a little surprise the Toyota Corolla is not number 1 in small car.

I own a 2022 Elantra, which gives me 45mpg on highways if I keep below 75mph. Driving in city traffic, it has never gone below 37mpg. I’ve even got 50mpg on highways on several occasions. Very fuel efficient!

Great Review. Very very relevant in todays high fuel prices. I started my quest to get into a fuel effecient vehicle late last year. I live outside a city and travel about 100 Km per day. I had a Ascent SUV, nice vehicle but typically 11L/100. I struggled to go to a sedan, we do drive on gravel a lot but gave in buying an ES300H. Not great on gravel but great fuel economy considering its size. The first two fills have been 5.3/100 driving a lot of highway and some city. Toyota have really figured out how to make the small 4 cylinder work with the electric motor - good power and still good mileage. I'm tickled pink everytime I fill up, I am going at close to 120 K speeds and full climate control. On the SUV I would drive 95K and limit the climate control - with that I was getting close to 10L/100. I'm looking foward to your review on full size vehicles - many will surprise fuel economy can be better than the small gas engines, I am. Thank you

Great video! Thank you for the work that you do.
Not on the list, but better than some:
I have a new Tucson Ultimate PHEV. It is rated at 6.8L/100km when running as a HEV but so far since I picked it up in late December, I’ve been averaging 5.4L/100km (43.5mpg) combined gasoline and electric modes. The more short trips we do around town and within its battery range all in EV mode, the lower that average gets. As expected, my electricity bill went up, but so far it has not been more than +-$30 per month.

I bought a Mirage 5sp in November 2021. I've been averaging 5.4l/100km with mixed driving. 78hp might not sound like a lot, but it's more than most people actually use.

Good work 👍 when you show chart with some numbers, please leave it longer on screen so we can read it all, 3 seconds is better than half second.

Don't know if it's a thing in North America. But in Europe diesel super minis are pretty popular. I get around 4.1L/100Km (57 mpg) combined in my Ford Fiesta diesel (2020).

78hp must feel dangerously slow on a modern car. Apparently goes 0-60 in 12 seconds, ouch. The 2nd place Versa goes 0-60 in 9.7s for comparison.

Spot on!! when comes to the top concern of the vehicle owners in current times of high gas prices 👍👍
You left out one of your favorites VW Taos. Mine with the 4 motion AWD is trending at 7.8L/100km in city.
Pretty happy with it!!

I drive a 2016 Chevy Volt PHEV. Gas rate 5.6l/100km(42 mpg). Electric rate 102mpge if charge at home. I drive 99% electricity and charge at charging stations for free 99% which works out mpg
