In this clip from "Exciting Update: Gospel Advancement," Jon and Justin discuss the nature of a Christian as both sinner and saint as described by Paul in Romans 7. This leads into a discussion of how we can be assured through Christ's work, in life and on the cross, despite our constant sin.

Semper Reformanda: Jon and Justin talk more personally about what led to starting the Grace Reformed Network.

"With the mind I serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin".

This was fantastic and exactly what I needed to remember today. Do you have anything about college aged kids that have turned away from the Faith? It’s breaking this mama’s heart. (Our kids were baptized as infants in a PCA church).

This is very helpful. I still don't know how they haven't come for you yet. But I would like to meet you brothers one day.

His sheep hear his voice. So telling someone to forsake their sin(repent) and believe the gospel is not adding additional works to salvation. Why? Because if the person does actually repent and believe its because God has already given them the ability to do this by regeneration. Or you could tell them they can't repent and believe. In this case it will drive them to cry out to God for mercy for salvation. In both cases the actions done by the sinner are result of regeneration. I believe both to be correct.

The Apostle Paul was not a sinner. He was converted by Jesus. Paul told people that sin leads to hell.
False religion has taken over the majority of Christian churches. Deceived Christians have embraced the dangerous doctrine that sin is a normal part of Christian life. It is even expected of us, and there is nothing we can do about it.
Sinning Christians are not saved. They are not born again. They have not received Salvation. When Jesus gives us salvation, he forgives all of our past sins at that time, and cleanses us from ALL unrighteousness. We lose all desire for sin. Corrupt churches rarely mention the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in the heart of the believer, and the notion that there is true freedom from the bondage of sin through the power of the Holy Spirit is foreign to false converts.
The Apostle John confirms that those who have truly received the Holy Spirit have experienced a miraculous and permanent transformation.
John said,
"And ye know that he (Jesus) was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother."

You really should read Thomas Jacomb On Romans 8 Verses One to Four (Banner Of Truth). When Rom.8:1 is read in its entirety it has implications and ramifications that might change some things... 'no condemnation' is a promise to those 'walking not after the flesh, but after the Spirit'. Puritans all taught this, that I've read, and this 373 page book would become well over 700 pages in today's format.
Being 'without excuse' and 'inexcusable' (Rom.1:20, 2:1) is still the context of Romans 7.
Apostle Paul never excuses any sin in his writings (1Cor.15:34, Rom.6:1, 2) like preachers I've heard over the years.
Read John Calvin's sermons.
