Fig Trees after a Late Frost

After a few nights of temperatures in the low 20s at night, fruit growers have been worried. Fortunately figs are typically late to wake up compared to other species. Due to artificially waking potted fig trees up in my greenhouse however, I do have some fig trees awake and growing well before my average last frost. See what happened after a heating malfunction in the greenhouse environment.

Have converted the living room
To a tropical observatory.
I wake up the figs in March
And gradually bring them out in June.

I’m so glad I could bring in my Italian honey potted fig. It took some work carrying it lol. But my in ground Chicago hardy figs died back again sadly

A lot of my trees got hit with a late frost last year. They bounced back but had really poor vigour and didn't produce any fruit

I got a SensorPush device and wifi accessory. Now I can see the greenhouse temp on my iPhone. $200 for both. worth it. You can tell the app to send you notifications if the temps get too low or too high.

At time stamp 13:35 you say that "since i already ruined the crop"... are you referring to next years production? Will those trees with damage not be able to put on new fruit next season due to the apical nodes being damaged?

How are you trees so leafed out with figs. I’m in West Chester and we haven’t had that many sunny days. My potted figs have been out in a greenhouse since late Feb. I take them in when it gets in mid 30s. I have some leaves and buds but nothing like that. When did they wake up?

Hey Ross I’m in California and it’s now heating up but some of my fig trees died to there roots but if I rub the stems at the base what’s left is green and alive will they come back is there any good way to get them to start going something before they die…?

What if I put my figs indoors on a sunny side to wake up and when there’s no more frost in a month should it be fine?
