“I demanded excellence” is the most out of touch parenting statement I can imagine.

It always intrigues me how so many alcoholics are so smart. He sounds like he is a borderline genius he just drinks too much. I am glad he stayed sober.

Dad ‘I demand excellence’
Son struggles and loses focus.
Dad abandons him and ISN’T an example of excellence.

When you direct your young son’s life in a particular direction and push him to the limit of what he’s capable of then you have to stand beside him when he falters.

I’m happy he’s sober but how didn’t he get any prison time after 5 DUIs?! What kind of nonsense system is that

How can the judicial system be so neglectful to have not sentenced him to prison with 5 DUI’s?

When he said that after he got kicked out of the team his parents stopped coming to visit him it really hit home, even though my parents are by no means as bad as his. But I remember when I decided to drop out of university to follow my passion and get into a restaurant kitchen they were disappointed at first, then seemed to slowly accept it when they saw how happy that line of work made me. But they still never came to eat there. Not once. It was kinda heartbreaking, especially since I had coworkers who had their family over a couple times a month. Always support your kids, even if they chose a life path that's not what you imagined for them

His father takes absolutely zero responsibility for being an awful father.

5 DUIS and only facing 90 days in prison is insane

You get the impression that Dad was living vicariously through his son and that was his only reason for being in his life, he didnt care about being a father he only cared about having something to brag about

The only reason dear ol' dad _demanded_ excellence from his son was to make himself look good. He demanded from his son what he couldn't do himself.

The parents are whack. They only really cared about him when he was a star. Once the dream was over they pretty much gave up on him. I hope Eddie is still on track he seems very likable

He looks like a completely different person - transformed in the best possible way. I am encouraged by his sobriety!

If that Dad doesn’t exude
“A$$hole” I don’t know who does.

As someone who also lives with alcohol issues, I find solace in videos like these, seeing a kindred spirit. I firmly believe that if alcohol were discovered in today's world, it would be illegal. Eddie went from a promising baseball player to a successful businessman, but when life and business didn't go as planned, he turned to alcohol to escape reality. I find myself doing the same every night, reaching for a drink to avoid facing the harshness of life.

The therapeutic benefits of psilocybin mushrooms completely changed my recovery journey, and other psychedelics like DMT and LSD have also played a key role in my healing and personal transformation.

This story reminded me of my family in a way. My dad was HARD core!! Military man with a wife & 7 kids. I was afraid of him when I was growing up, but he eventually mellowed. Having 5 daughters helped with that. He would dance with us every chance he got. I miss him terribly 😭 I went to my first bar at 19 & I partied a lot! Alcoholism runs rampant in my family. Thank God it was just a phase for me!! I worked & went to school full time, but I went out every single weekend & several nights during the week. By the time my 21st birthday came, I was done with alcohol. I would occasionally have a mixed drink at a wedding, etc. but no big deal. Now I can't stand the taste at all. I'm glad Eddie was able to get sober cuz he would have probably killed someone drinking & driving. So, great job Eddie!
