In this video, I share my personal story about recovering from burnout using a breathing technique called Breathe Light from the Buteyko Method. I talk about what it felt like to burn out, and how by trying lots of approaches, and persisting with Buteyko Breathing, I was able to heal my body and mind, and get my life back.

Great video! I had the same journey with Buteyko, but back in 2005. My asthma cleared up, allergies, snoring, stuffy nose, occasionally blocked eustaschian tube - all of these things cleared up. In 2006 I trained to become a teacher. Buteyko is very subtle, simple to explain but not simple to do. Breathe less! Relaxtion is key to productive reduced breathing. As Alex says there are a number of other guidelines to follow and things you can do to bring breathing under control and into your conscious awareness. Becoming 'breath aware' is one of the many gifts of a Buteyko practice.

This stuff alters your life, leading to making better choices with the use of clarity. What's actually mind blowing about it is; it's literally right under our nose but many will overlook it, thinking whatever changes our livelihood has to be something gargantuan. Great video, friend.

Discovered this just in time Neil. I'm so grateful, had a really good night's sleep last night. Last week I got badly burnt out at work. This has given me hope 🙏

Great work. I'm on a 2 year journey so far. I'm sure it's for life now. It has to be. Maintenance is not just a diet. It's a lifestyle. I've been 6 months into shirt off sun exposure and elements exposure. Cold showers every day for 9 months now. It is truly beneficial to me. Running with nasal only. Sprinting with nasal only. Patrick is a life saver. It improves extremity warmth when sitting/standing for a long time. Col weather exposure and hot too. Sauna to cold shower. Keep it up.

Saw a doctor for the first time in 20 years. He suggested this. Will give feedback in 2 months. 🎉

I was interested in Buteyko Breathing many years ago and took an in-person course, but eventually gave up the practice. This is an excellent video which explains WHY it didn't work well enough for me to continue (it became just another stressor.) STILL think there are huge benefits for me to reap with this approach though. I think this is one of the best (and most honest) videos I've seen about any healing modality and I look forward to exploring your channel. THANK YOU!

Great video, thanks so much for giving your own personal account and experiences, I find it's sometimes more helpful than just receiving the techniques alone. I will try these techniques with a relaxed mindset now to ensure my CNS doesn't get stressed from the practice!

I'm new to Buteyko and I've watched some of your videos to learn some of the basics of Buteyko. Can you tell me how I can learn about how to put together a beginner practice regimen that I can make part of my busy life? I've followed along with some of your videos and I believe that I understand some of the general concepts, but I don't know how to structure a practice regimen to make a regular habit out of.

I have had treatment x 3 due to cancer and left with loads of health issues. But water infections etc constantly on antibiotics. And rhinitis - sinusitis- tinnitus asthma..sleepless nights brain fog + short-term memory loss - due to severe dyslexia. Bombarded & overwhelmed ongoing anxiety. Would love to slow down the rhinitis nasal drip at least..😢

I’m more in the ‘6 seconds in and 6 seconds out’ camp. My lungs have got way stronger and my health has greatly improved. I was in hospital with pneumonia before learning this. I recovered from pneumonia in record time using coherence breathing. There is a wonderful app on my watch which gives me exercises.
The subtle stuff doesn’t feel natural to me

it always feels like someone turned the light inside my head on when ever I do this

Are you also able to share these specific exercises you did? Intuitively I feel that I need to learn more about my breath and slowing it down / breathing less. I have recovered from panic disorder but when I get anxious I do not get panic attacks anymore but breath weirdly and hyperventilate and get brain fog still

Stress and anxiety has caused me to hold my breath without me knowing and I’d catch myself forgetting to breathe momentarily. I’m kind of wondering how this method is different because mine doesn’t feel good at all

Have you seen any benefits for people with dysautonomia conditions like inappropriate sinus tachycardia? And what about ADHD symptoms? I know these are both related to the because system so I'm curious to see if either improve with some of this breathing training
