I've done a lot of hiring and I have a couple of interview repos with actual coding tasks (primarily Spark DE tasks and scripting on a mock API setup in the repo). I always tell everyone up front that it's open book, if you need to check SO or documentation then feel free -- just make sure you're screensharing when you do it.

I've generally found that an employees ability to effectively find answers/solutions on their own with little guidance is *much* more important than whether they know how to create a linked list or remember the signature of an obscure library method the problem needs them to know.

That's what life is all about if you're a great employer. Same thing happened to me buy unfortunately, the Queen of the company, the owner's wife, didn't want me to be around because he husband liked me. I'm a guy BTW. I was like yo man I ain't swinging that way.

No offense but these videos are frustrating because that has not been my experience at all. I’ve done the same thing a few times and just simply not gotten the job. It feels like that connection or that chance is gone or it’s only given to a few select people
