Will a diode laser engrave Marble? | Testing the xTool D1 Pro 20w

I always keep my eyes open while shopping for new ideas for items to customize. I came across from Marble and Acacia wood cheese boards and thought they would be perfect to test with a diode laser. So I bought a few as they were relatively cheap and brought them home to test in the xTool D1 Pro 20w laser. The tests surprised me and you'll see what I was able to make out of one at the end. Always keep your eyes open for items you can customize!

I think it would be cool to get that deep etch with 500mm/min @ 100% then do a resin or epoxy fill on the marble. Great vid! Thanks!!

I just did something similar on a buy from Aldi. I only engraved on the wood section but it came out great. And I would not worry too much about the wood being unsafe for food. As long as it is washed and treated occasionally with some food safe oil (I used butcher block oil which had the added benefit of darkening the engraving just a touch). It is really no worse than an edge grain cutting board.

Very nice video 🌞 have you tried deep embossing with any success on the white marble or black granite? I want to try it out on my F1 Ultra. Many thanks!

Hi there and greetings from germany. I hope you understand my english.
First: Thanks for this video. Helped me a lot.
Since last month I’m a proud owner of a xTool D1 Pro with the 20W blue laser and the IR laser. I tried a lot different materials and it worked pretty good.
So I watched your video because I wanted to know how it works with marble. Well, the way I see it it’s better using black marble than white marble.
But I’m wondering if I can engrave a picture in black marble. I’m asking because I have two dogs. And sooner or later they walk over the rainbow bridge.
When this time has come I wanna bury them in my yard and make a lil gravestone. Marble or some other kinda stone (maybe you have some other ideas).
Most important thing: I want engrave a picture of my dogs on the gravestone. Have you tried to engrave pictures? Or maybe someone else who is reading this? Has someone tried to engrave other kinds of stones like granite?
