I usually think of worst-case scenarios in terms of my health, for example, if my back hurts, I'm sick, My arm hurts, etc I immediately think I'll need an operation on it or that I'm basically dying. I really struggle about thinking of different outcomes

thank you for this video, i was okay until i followed some videos telling people to expect the worst case scenario to feel better but it made my life worse and damaged so many aspects of my life

Omg this video is so good. I recently had a mammogram and they called me back for more images. My mind immediately went to I have breast cancer. I never gave much thought to other reasons for the call back. They just took additional images for a closer look and concluded that It was fine and I can go back for my regular screening in a year. I need to practice this because lately I have been going off the rails with worst case scenario for everything that happens lately.

I'm an overattached sibling. So when I see my other siblings going through struggles. I put those of myself. I tend to gravitate towards the worse case scenario as a way to control the future. I think that if I'm able to come up with the most painful outcome that it somehow protects me from the shock and surprise of an outcome like that actually happening. I'm trying to change my thought process but it's hard when you are really close to someone.

I hate that I create stories and I dont feel relief until I hear from them and Im trying to remind myself that other people do have lives. Its ok.

I usually think of a worst case scenario in mundane life. It's like something clicks inside my head(eg. My mom's driving the car, I emagine how the car breaks down and she dies). I feel like it's been with me my whole life, or at least from my teen years. It really started bothering me when I realized that it's not normal at all and some ppl live without these thoughts.

Thank you so much. It helped a lot.
Also, it reminded me of Tony Robbins, when he said -Your brain is not designed to make you happy, that's your job.
He explained how we have 2 million year old brains that are wired to look for danger, so we could avoid that danger quickly. And since nowadays we don't run away from wild animals but out brains have remained the same, if we don't cool ourselves down, we can easily start being unhappy bc of stupid "problems", or, in this case, scared in advance.

This is so helpful. I was looking for something like this after an argument with my partner and she told me I had a habbit of going worst case scenario.
