If they're predicting 214 million infected a 1% death rate would mean 2.1 million. But 1.7 million is the worst case scenario? And if they don't know the death rate how are they calculating a worst case scenario? This doesn't make sense.

I was wondering why they don't try directly oxygenating the blood. The ventilators don't work well since the disease infects the lungs (the immune system inflames they preventing oxygen being absorbed) a machine is used in open heart surgery that directly oxygenates the blood bypass the lungs and pumps it through the body.

I have a question for a Dr. or Nurse... Are High Frequency Chest Wall Oscillation Vests being used for this epidemic? If not why? I feel they would help the patient cough up and get rid of the fluid in the lungs possibly preventing the use of Ventilators/Intubation. Ventilators are pumping air in and helping with Co2 and O2 exchanges and pressure, but while that's happening, the patient isn't able to expel what's filling them up.
