Very very informative. I was lucky to come across this video. I was looking at a Ezvid vid video of top 10 hoses of 2018 and was about to buy their #1 recommendation when this video came on due to autoplay. Definitely agree with the strong, almost overpowering chemical odor that came from the Flexogen hose after it first comes on. Strong enough to make me cough from breathing the odor, sort of like chlorine I would say.

When I saw this review, that chemical odor was the first thing that came to mind and I saw the comment then by mssavedin92.

The big box stores sell hoses that almost exclusively have aluminum fittings that are guaranteed to corrode.

Yes, good vid. Rubber is the way to go. I opt for longer hoses versus more connections cause mine always leak. Speaking of which, keep extra rubber washers handy. Got any recommendations on hoses that are always under pressure (always on)?

FYI !!! At or around the time of your video APEX started making some of their ends out of aluminum and cheaper materials and painted them to look like brass so if it doesn't say full BRASS on the APEX model the ends are no longer brass to cut costs. Just an FYI.

Do the Craftsman and Gilmore remain pliable in the winter? Tired of the cheap stiff hoses when trying to move them while in storage or fill something (ice rink) in the winter.... (fyi - Chicago winters [-20])
Also, I read a few reviews that the black Craftsman hose finish comes off on your hands when handling it, any opinion/experience with this?

we bought the black commercial grade Gilmore a yr ago, have you noticed the strong chemical smell of the water when you first turn it on?

take a rotary small cut off grinder make a slice on opposite sides of the female fitting it will come right off replace connector with brass repair connector problem solved faucet saved 👍

It is hard to find a good rubber hose now. They have cut so many corners it is not like the hoses we had when I grew up that would last(or even from 10 years ago). I am going to try an Italian rubber hose even though it is a bit more.. It don't want to buy another crappy hose I have to roll up and take back. I hope the Italians keep up with there quality,

When we go to your site. The 50 foot is vinyl not rubber and 5/8 inch.. The 50 foot flexon is rubber.
