Outstanding advice, just what I needed as I'm going to rig my boat with all new electronics and trolling motor The way you break down the selection process is spot on. Thank you!

Really good and systematic approach. Very helpful. I'm in the process of buying a new system for a boat with 0 electronics. It is a very overwhelming process.

This is by far the best video I've seen on chosing the right depth / fish finder 👍

Love the video. Lots of good advice. I made a checklist when I watched it a second time. Definitely won't be as overwhelmed when I decide to buy. Thanks

Excellent advice on the fishfinders. Two years later I'm getting into freshwater fishing again after mainly saltwater fishing for the last 50 years. I figured out which fishfinders I wanted(Garmin) then was fixing up my new "small" boat. I'm ready to buy the Livescope LVS34 and a trolling motor. Now with spot lock and I Link, Minn Kota's partially out. Garmin's Force is way over priced and they seem to have a few hiccups, so not really a good value. I may have to go with a lower cost Terrova with the universal transducer that really only does part of the job....sigh.... fishing cost more than playing golf....

I’m a crappie fisherman and I fish from a 14ft aluminum boat first timer but I want down and side imaging gps to mark brush piles and fish depths 25 feet and less budget $700 prefer mega hummingbird but best unit to find crappie on brush using down and side image your suggestion one unit I’ll take a look at anything garmin -hummingbird-Lawrence? Best bang for the buck

Great information…. I even got a chuckle when you said… small aluminum boats that will only ever have 1 unit on it don’t need networking. I have 3 units on a 12 foot flat bottom 😂

Another question you could ask is how much more you'd be willing to spend to get what you need for safety reasons. In the Pacific North West it can nasty quickly and for me safety is essential. This helped me with all my discissions.

Saw this just after I purchased a Raymarine Element 7HV.
Just reinforced what I had already decided.

Consider buying a unit that has been in continuous production for a long time vs. something from companies that is constantly introducing "new" products frequently. That is why I have a Koden/Sitex CVS-128.

Great advice. In the market for a 9" unit for my kayak. Which company has the best mapping for lakes in Quebec and Ontario (not great lakes)?

Hey great video lots of detail. I live in windsor, Ont. I fish lake st clair, detroit river, st clair river and Erie. What mapping do you suggest?

$400 Garmin 7sv in 2016 was the best fishing investment i made on my 1436 jon boat. $600 hummingbird 7 inch helix I bought for $400 was a close third. 1800 dollar 8hp was the second.

Thanks for the vid. I listened closely and didn't understand 90% of what was said because I know almost nothing about fish finders. If you could make a fish finder for dummies video that explains what all the features do and why you might want them, it would be greatly appreciated.

I know raymarine axiom wasn't the one for me. It was pretty good in shallow water but after I got the furuno 588 with a tm275 lhw it changed my boat into a very usable tool for what I need it for. Simrad nss would be my second choice.

The boat I'm purchasing has a Lowrance aready on it, it's 4-5 years old, and probabaly will up grade sooner rather than later or it'll just quit. I just need a unit with good bottom detail and a decent side imaging and thats it.
