The United States Geological Survey reported a magnitude 3.1 quake in the United States near Gilroy, Santa Clara County, California. The earthquake hit in the morning on Wednesday, July 13th, 2022, at 9:08 am local time at a very shallow depth of 2.7 miles.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which reported the same quake at magnitude 3.1 as well.

Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Gilroy, located 6 miles from the epicenter, Hollister, 10 miles away, Morgan Hill, 14 miles away, Watsonville, 17 miles away, and Prunedale, 18 miles away.

I'm in Oakland, I would not expect a 3.1 to give a noticeable shock this far away! I know an earthquake. I was waking in North Oakland when the 6.9 hit in 1989 ( it has been a while, maybe 1990) during the Bay Bridge series between the Giants and A's baseball teams....
