USGS scientists discuss 7.0 magnitude California earthquake

Scientists with the U.S. Geological Survey held a news conference Thursday after a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Northern California. The quake initially triggered a tsunami warning that has since been canceled.

I was fishing the beach in Bodega when this occurred. Felt nothing. Checked on a friend in Mckinnlyville - no damage to home. We sought higher ground immediately after tsunami warning. 30 minutes later warning was cancelled. At the beach when a tsunami warning called was a 1st for me. So glad it all wasnt worse.

Thanks for all this info. I’m confused how the Cobb earthquake went from a 5.2 to a 2.5. I live near Cobb. For me, of course was definitely the stronger one, but I felt both. I sure do appreciate the advance emergency notification. I got it about a minute before the first quake.
