I love how haunted he is by this, you know its a core memory n thought for Jaime.

I love the way jaime is trying to improve himself, besides all the guilt and shame. He is trying to become the knight he once swore to be.

I love how Jaime is kind of in awe of the white bull, as he rarely uses his name and usually refers to him as ‘the bull’

"I never thought he'd hurt them, "
This is a reminder that Jamie was a naive 16 year old during the sack. Knowing Jamie's love for Rhaegar and the admiration he had for the other King's Guard, its easy to see how he would struggle to cope and slowly become the horrible person we see at the start of the books.
His closest friends died, his prince died, he killed his own king to save people, and his own father and the man he helped put on the throne protect Gregor and Armory Lorch. The dissociation Jamie must have gone through serving Robert and knowing his dad used and rewarded Gregor for such vile war crimes.

Jamie looks at himself in the mirror, "You killed one madman to spare millions. The whole world might think your word is worthless, but could you live with yourself if you did nothing?"

Killing a king is one thing but not protecting princess Elia and her kids is definitely bad

How could Jaime not want to kill the Mountain every time he sees him. For those kids, for the princess.

The irony in the fact that Rhaegar asks how he could let the children die when he didn't bring the princess or the children with him he brought Lyanna with him.

Oh Rhaegar Targaryen....only George RR Martin can kill the most important character before even starting the story.

People keep insisting that Jamie couldn't have saved them in time even if you wanted to. I call bullshit. Not only did he have time to go to Maegor's Holdfast, he chose not to. And this I did a he genuinely believed that his father wouldn't hurt those kids is fucking laughable considering he knows about the reyne tarbeck Rebellion.

i were jaime i would have left the king's side and focus on protecting princess elia and the children.

I wonder if that’s what cemented it in Ned’s eyes. That maybe if Jamie had protected the children and Elia people would’ve recognized he didn’t kill the mad king for bullshit reasons. I mean would the mountain really kill Jamie? Idk it’s just one of those things where he probably could have protected them if he really wanted to but he was also just a kid. It’s a delicious tragedy of a situation

In Jamie's defense, for those saying he didn't have to kill Aerys. This has probably been mentioned before, but the guy was 17 when he did this. Like what 17 year old is going to make a rationale decision under those circumstances.

Everyone to Jaime: "You swore an oarh and killed your king."
Jaime: "He was trying to kill everyone.'
Everyone: "And? Oathbreaker."

What Jaime’s subconscious is telling him through his former comrades’ “ghosts” is that he could have saved the city without assassinating the king and letting the children die.

This is the weirwood dream. Jaime fell asleep with his head on a weirwood stump. Brienne shows up naked in this dream.
