Stick Welding 6010 uphill for Beginners with these 3 techniques I learned. Have some awesome welding tips and tricks using a Miller machine and 601 electrodes . Vertical uphill welding with 6010 rods can be tricky if you don’t pause long enough or don’t move quick . its a good video for stick welding beginners or any hobbyist. don't forget to practice the basics, welding basics is key. Smaw is shield metal arc welding also known as stick welding or electrode welding or arc welding . these are some of the tips and tricks that helped me improve my welding overall with the 6010 electrode, every rod is different and require different techniques or motions.

The technique is like when they say there's more than one way to skin a cat, but essentially you are doing the same thing; whipping out of the puddle, whipping back in but right on top of the previous dime. Vertical 6010 is probably the most trickiest of all smaw, one thing you guys need to keep in mind is vertical welds get hotter as you go so you need to increase your speed as well. PAY ATTENTION TO THE PUDDLE when it starts looking really wet you need to move faster and stack your dimes further apart until the puddle stabilizes. Also every time you whip out of the puddle you should see your dime dry. If the puddle remains wet it's too hot. Think of it as the reason you whip out of the puddle is to derive the heat away from the puddle

Ill give those a try. DID a 6010 test today in school Vert up sucked... Vert down. Loved it. Flat was great. Horz not so good. but ive only welded for 3 days ever.

I just started school and I’m in 3G vertical, the instructor ran out of 7018 so we doing 6010

With first one it's like he's doing an l motion but since he went over the bottom of the l twice it feels like your doing the letter T... but it's more like l'$ on top of L's
