One of the most oft repeated arguments in favour of Ahsoka is the “incredible growth arc” she has over the course of The Clone Wars. This ten-part series was made to analyze the evidence and set the record straight. In this case study, we discuss the different reasons that her character growth arc ultimately failed, and suggest ways it could have been done better.
Regardless of whether you are a fan of Ahsoka or not, we hope you learn something from this series that will help you avoid the same mistakes in your own writing.

Ahsoka is living proof that everyone is the hero of their own story.

Ahsoka inviting Lux to check her out and getting all annoyed when he does exactly what she wanted him to do reminds me of 3:07 in this video:

To be fair I haven’t seen the show in a while and I definitely wasn’t analyzing it as a kid lol so I did enjoy the show and character, I still do. I really just watched it for fun, but going back there were many missed opportunities for her character. You made a lot of good points, and you’re right in that she isn’t the most well written character. She suffers from being both feloni’s favorite and sometimes used as a plot device.

We get very little actual growth and development from her. which is sad because I think she is a cool character. There’s plenty of times where the writing fumbles her and other characters to make her come off so much worse than I think she’s meant to.

lol ik I’ve commented on a bunch of your videos but I’ve enjoyed your rewrites and found your takes interesting.

Idk if you have seen rebels or made any videos about it but I’m curious on your thoughts regarding the show and her appearances in it.

People get mad over Mace Windu's "This was actually your great trial", but I think he's giving her far too much credit by even implying it's a trial she mastered when all she did was whine and incriminate herself further while Anakin was the one who actually proved her innocence.
Not to mentoin it's completely asinine that the Council apologizes to her, not vice versa, and she's always withholding information from them, either by running away or by being needlessly cryptic, and the story still expects me to think "The Council is corrupt, they have wronged Ahsoka and should have trusted her more.", when they're the only ones who actually owned up to their mistakes.

Ahsoka has as many faces as the grains of sand on a beach.

12:38 I guess I can *kind of* see Ahsoka's point by saying "It's not the Jedi way", so she stops Kalifa, who is a Jedi, but not Chewbacca, who isn't a Jedi and therefore dosen't have to act like one. It's still pretty dumb since she'd be compliant in it either way.

"Let me do this on my own"
"Alright"
"Wait, aren't you coming to help"

The writers are high. 🥴

16:41 I partially agree with this. This has always been one of my least favorite Ahsoka moments. I really don't like how she seems perplexed about Togrutas being sad despite having only just been saved from traumatic slavery, or that she's downplaying the trauma by saying it will just make them stronger. I think it definitely makes her reaction to Mace Windu saying 'this was your great trial' at least somewhat hypocritical.
However, it is worth noting that Windu actively participated in Ahsoka's trauma by expelling her and leaving her at the mercy of the Senate. Understandably, being told 'what doesn't kill you just makes you stronger' by someone who participated in that trauma and avoids responsibility for it would be salt in the wound.

Well, that was a wild ride.😆 I can't believe she was actually my favorite Star Wars character at one point, but I guess I watched the show using the "turn off brain and let it happen" mode at first. (I think that running montage helps explain it though too; seeing her being a ninja is aesthetically pleasing, and our lizard brains translate her action scenes as "good character" and "wow look how much she's grown.")

But even though I'd gotten skeptical of my opinions/memories over the last few years, I never expected her character to be *that* bad until seeing it laid out like this. In fact, I think she gets worse as the show went on, basically a full on narcissist! To be fair, I never watched Season 7 and had no idea how much of a dumpster fire it was. Especially her freeing Maul the psychopath to save herself, like, _what the hell??!!_ Why do people give Old Man Luke so much flak when this is so much worse than anything he did?? This is probably the worst thing a "good guy" has done in all of Star Wars that isn't obviously telegraphed as bad! And people think she's a hero! (Though she's inexplicably saint-like when she shows up in Rebels, but how she gets that way is anyone's guess. "I'm Ahsoka Tano... Peace be unto you.")

Looking forward to the rest of your videos.
