Thank you very much! This was exactly what I needed. I have it all set up now with an ASUS RT-AX53U and a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G. Finally a fast wifi network without having to spend a lot of money on a 5G modem. Very happy!

OMIGOSH! That was the problem, the USB tethering.. got it to work and after going through ASUS app on my phone for setup, the router is CONNECTED!! This project has taken me about two weeks to go through and finally get figured out! The router setup was huge though.. gonna go through your other vids to see if I'm missing anything. The signal is so weak so definitely need to boost that with external antenna! Thank you so so much!!

I am so glad I tried this. I bought a an ASUS RT-AX58U. I know this is more expensive but it was all the shop had and they have a 30 day returns policy, if I change my mind. Anyways it seems to work well with my Iphone 12. I am yet to test it with a phone that has ethernet tethering. Thanks alot for sharing your knowledge.

Thanks for your video. In a very remote area (small island in indonesia), for some reason only OPPO and REALME smartphone with android can work with good speed using LTE data mode only. Other 4G router or other brand do not provide the same speed (I think it is due to the telecom tower using Chinese stuff with limited compatibility to other modem brand ).

After watching your video I figured out that I have an ASUS ac86 (was under dust after not using it for few years) that I could use to distribute 4G connection with an OPPO phone via USB to ASUS then share it over an UniFi Wifi network for a large area coverage.

Thanks a lot again, your idea solved me many headaches!

Thanks for the video! I've been doing this same thing, only a different way that will work with any router. I use Easytether Pro on my phone with a vpn connected so the mobile ISP can't tell I'm tethering. Easytether has it's own Windows client that makes the connection possible. I then take the spare ethernet port on the laptop and connect it to my WAN port on the wireless router and enable sharing my internet connection in the Network adapter settings in Windows. Router picks up the internet connection and disperses it throughout the home.

I ordered the AX3000. You should do a video of how fast the speed is once conected to the phone. Thanks for the info, good look.

Mate.thanks for the vid. Trying to avoid paying for fibre and phone data. Got a heap of speakers running on data so if I can get this to work I can quit paying for the fibre connection and I just happen to be running an ASUS router. Got an old S5 and gonna try plugging that in to the ASUS and hotspot to it from the actual S9 phone I use and see if that works. Thanks soo much for posting the Vid. Cheers from NZ

I can confirm how good the ASUS router range was when I had them. I will be coming back. My Huawei does not have USB so it will have to go. My phone provider allows unlimited data so I will be tethering when I am at home. When I am out, it will not matter because I live alone. Goodbye to a £25 per month 5G broadband bill. Hello and welcome back to ASUS.
