I’m picturing my wife’s face as I explain I need to replace our 1 year old 4K TV with a £1500+ 4K TV. I expect I’ll be playing 60fps for at least the next 4 years.

I have an older LG OLED, and I had thought of plugging my Series X into my PC monitor for 120fps, but decided I didn't want to half the resolution and lose HDR. 60FPS has always looked great to me.

I feel like 30 to 60 was a way bigger change than 60 to 120.

To the people saying they don’t notice a difference in FPS must not be playing on an actual 120hz tv or monitor. I have the series x and I play on a AOC 32 inch 144hz monitor and I can confirm it’s definitely a whole new experience. Playing halo at 120fps is a game changer.

To clarify a couple of things.
1. You need an Xbox Series X or S, One S or One X can't do 120fps (even though they can display 120Hz, which is a bit different scenario)
2. To run full HDMI 2.1 spec such as 4K120 or 8K60 you need a compatible TV. HDMI 2.1 also supports Variable Refresh Rate.
3. However, you can also run games at 120Hz/120fps on a monitor without HDMI 2.1. Your max resolution in this case can reach only 1440p on an older version of HDMI. That's also usually without HDR support. But such gaming monitors often come with FreeSync which is equivalent to Variable Refresh Rate. I'm using an Acer VG270UP.

So if you are looking for a cheaper way to get into VRR or 120Hz, Xbox Series X|S fully support gaming monitors! This may be a factor for you if you're a competitive player.
But in all honestly I preferred my 65inch HDR compatible TV at 60Hz, as that was just enough for me. The difference between 120Hz and 60Hz is nothing like between 30 and 60Hz. Yes, it is better but I enjoyed picture quality far more than ultra high framerates.

I was playing dirt 5 in 120fps and I thought I forgot to turn on 120fps because 120fps and 60fps looks the same.

120fps is great, but if you don't have a TV capable of 120Hz then you're good with 60fps. In some single player games I prefer the higher quality graphics/ray tracing to 120fps. Competitive shooters and racers are best exploited in 120fps, but a solid 60fps is still great.

Me wondering why his voice changes for every passage: hm
Me realizing that these are two different persons: oh, ok, I guess I'm dumb.

I own both the Series S and Series X, and I been using my Series S more. I love the little thing. Its like my daily driver.
I also still own my One X and XB1, they still get the love they deserve

I'll probably wait till mid next year when (hopefully) some company brings out a 4k 120Hz+ HDMI 2.1 capable monitor with a decent response time.
Till then I'll wait for Series X stock and play on a solid 4k TV at 60fps :)

You need a mouse and keyboard to take really advantage of 120fps.
I’ll stick with PC (GTX 1080Ti - I7-8700K - 16GB DDR4 -etc.) for my 1st person shooters.
I use my Series X for non 1st person shooter games as the game pad / controller just isn’t ideal for these types of games. Direction changes aren’t quick enough to justify really high frame rates with a controller. 60 fps seems pretty optimal in this case.

For anyone that needs an affordable TV Thats supports 4k 120hz/hdmi 2.1, HDR, AMD freesync premium. The LG nano85 series is a good one. I use the 49inch. Roughly about $500-$600 depending where you buy it from.

So if a person is playing at 120fps vs 60fps in Cod multiplayer the person with 120fps increases there chance of winning the battle? Do you get the advantage bc of this?

Anyone else noticed their game captures after they upload/save are very dark compared to your actual gameplay?
