In this video, we’re going to talk about recovery and how you can determine your recovery level.

If you’re an athlete, there are a lot of different tests you can do to determine your recovery. But, if you don’t have access to tests like a heart rate recovery test, you can go by other factors.

You have the body recovery rate, and then you have the being recovery rate. In your mind, you may be someone who can handle intense exercise, but your body may be older and not able to handle it. This can result in serious injuries.

Body recovery has to do with your ability to repair. There are repair proteins or enzymes in the body that do the work of repairing damage at the DNA level. These repair proteins require nutrients, or they don’t work that well.

Your adrenal glands help you adapt to stress. If you have a lot of stress in your life, it builds up, and your adrenals won’t be able to function as well. One of the most important things to do for this is to get plenty of sleep.

How to measure recovery level:
• Heart rate - Test
• Sleep - You can't sleep at night after a good workout
• Blood pressure - Your blood pressure goes way too high for many hours after you work out and it doesn't rebound
• Mood or stress reaction - How long does it take you to bounce back from stress mentally

Action Steps — Hormesis (beneficial stress):

1. Intermittent fasting
2. Exercise
3. Cold
4. Heat
5. O2
6. Light/UV
7. Phytonutrients

I did your recovery test.... My starting heart rate was 61 and after jumping rope for 1 minute it was 136, one minute later it was down to 68, how’s that lol. I guess we can see that my HIIT workouts 3 times a week are working. They consist of 1 minute of jumping rope 10 sets with different dumbbell exercises in between each set. I also walk an average of 8 miles a day and do 16/8 intermittent fasting with a low carb diet. This is the cool part, I just turned 58 years old last Saturday and yes I feel 20. Take Care and keep up the good work...

I have finally addressed my weekly exercise routine by changing to one day at the gym and two days off. This has shown me that I was definitely overtraining since I am 70.

Great video. Before Keto I was sick and diabetic. I would say I was a 1 or 2 maybe. Now I would say a 7. I notice that not only do I have more endurance when I do things, like cut down a tree and haul firewood from sun up to sun down, but when I used to do that for 4 hours it would be a week before I could stand and walk without pain and swelling. Now I can go for 12 hours, without eating all day, and then I will have a strange craving for some eggs that night, and then the next day I wake up and maybe have a sore muscle or two and a day later nothing at all hurts, but I notice my muscles are getting just a little bit bigger.

I love long brisk walks in cold but sunny weather. Something happens and I feel much better that doesn’t happen in the summer for me. I come alive October-March 💕 It would be good to study this cold therapy thing and why I feel better.
Thank you Doc!

Great point with the importance of nutrients! Every enzyme requires some kind of co-factor (most of the time minerals) to work properly. If we test enzymes in the lab and don't add magnesium, zinc or whatever they need, they simply don't work at all.

Ever since I have started Keto my recovery levels have improved massively. One of the massage ladies once told me that she had never come across a person whose body has no stress and no stiffness whatsoever. She said that she had experienced this in her whole career

Probably a 9. When I was young I remember I would heal extremely fast, ... cuts, bruises, ect. When I tell people that I am 65 (March 2020) their mouths drop and eyes wide open! They think I am 40 something. Even my voice sounds young. I guess I am blessed with awesome genetics. I am Italian by DNA but American by Nationality (Southern California) I do have anxiety and panic attacks. Also I practice positives and clear away from negatives in my life.

Awesome lecture today Doctor Berg. I think my mental recovery is lower than my physical recovery, 5&8. I hope to do better on both

Between a 4 and 6. The last couple of months I've been almost consciously overtraining and now I'm relearning how to listen to different signals and relearning to restrain myself from doing more than is beneficial
